FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
It's not complicated at all. I always quote on the job itself. A studio shoot comprised of one animal is a different price than a location shoot with several animals, family members and varied scenes. I price after chatting with potential customers because it gives me the opportunity to have a full understanding of expectations and it gives my clients the opportunity to understand the process and have any questions clarified beforehand. Customers are given an exact session price once all questions are answered. I don't have packages per se because I don't want my customers to feel pressured. Rather, I have an a la carte price list where folks can pick and choose. Once a selection is made, I take a deduction from the group of images and customers have the exact "package" they're looking for.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
By nature, I'm inquisitive and enjoy learning. I'm constantly exploring new techniques hands on and participate in a multitude of learning opportunities on a regular basis. One can get bogged down by technology as it continues to evolve. Keeping on top of it while making sure the creative juices aren't getting stifled can be a bit of a balancing act.
- What types of customers have you worked with?
My pet photography truly runs the gamut. When a beloved, furry family member is getting on in years, I'm often called in to perform a tribute shoot. Action shots are always popular and more and more people are requesting personal shots with their pets. I always encourage folks to participate in shoots (even if, like me, they're camera shy) because it make the shoot extra special. I'm shooting more and more in the studio but I would have to say that location shoots are my highest percentage. I'm willing to travel pretty much anywhere my clients wish and I recommend that the location has a special meaning to everyone involved.
