Question and answer

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. Don't hire a videographer without viewing examples of their work. Preferably a sample of a work delivered to a customer, and not just their "demo reel". The latter will reflect only their best work.

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. One consideration most customers don't consider is sound recording. People think about HD, and most know what good quality video looks like. It's easy to put music under a demo video and make that sound great. Find out what's done in the real world. Be sure that the videographer provides appropriate microphones. For live performance, they should patch into the sound board.

Q. What questions should a consumer ask to hire the right service professional?

A. As about experience, and about future plans. Many "would be" videographers are weekend hobbyists, trying to pay off an expensive camera. Find someone who does this work as their sole profession.
