FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I professionally trained in theatre at New York University: Tisch School of the Arts, where I studied the Linklater progression of Freeing the Natural Voice, worked with several Roy Hart Theatre teachers, and studied jazz vocal improvisation. Though I already teach with the Roy Hart Theatre Voice Work, I am also currently in the teacher accreditation process in the Roy Hart Theatre Voice Work. This means that I have incredible mentors who are master voice teachers from the Roy Hart Theatre. I am an NCVS trained vocologist, and am currently working on my masters in Speech Language Pathology.
- What types of customers have you worked with?
I get some common requests, as I work with both the speaking and (non-classical) singing voice. I work with professional performers looking to deepen their work or reconnect with a practice they lost along the way. From the transgender community, a lot of folks come to me looking for a safe way to find their truest voice - as in the voice that matches their identity. By providing some tools and insights, I facilitate their space for their own exploration. I also commonly get requests from people who think they cannot sing. I help them discover that they can indeed sing and enjoy their voice. In addition, I often work with introvert-identified people or business professionals seeking to be heard at the workplace, or overcome fears of public speaking.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Look for someone who ideally comes from your community and therefore understands in a personal way the questions you have and the challenges you face. Also, if you really want to enjoy your voice, the teacher or coach should make you feel safe and comfortable, because this is how the most rewarding breakthroughs can occur.
