Introduction: Hello students! I am Chiyo, your Japanese tutor/teacher. Please call me Chiyo-sensee. I have been tutoring Japanese since 2006. Now, I am teaching classes for high school students in Houston area. I teach ALL AGES and ALL LEVELS. I can create/modify curriculum for you. My lesson is always fun in relaxing environment. Fully enjoyable and engaging. Lessons are 45 min but feel like only 10 min because they are good. Glad to have made the choice for the wife and I. We communicate thru Skype on Fridays/Saturdays.

I have been working with Chiyo Sensei for almost one and a half years now and love every lesson we have! In order to make it to AP japanese by 12th grade I needed to skip a year of japanese by studying in the summer. I would not have been able to do it without my lessons with Chiyo Sensei! She also helped me during the school year since I had been studying Japanese a year less than the other people in my class and now I am farther than I thought I would make it in Japanese. Now I am still studying with her and am making good progress!

I met Chiyo-sensee in California a few months before traveling to Japan and had weekly hour long lessons with her. It was a great experience while I was working with her and made a huge difference on my trip! In Japan you'll find people who speak English in a few critical places (at larger hotels, at the airport) but in general Japanese people won't speak English, and not many tourists there speak Japanese. So, knowing how to ask for directions or order food in a restaurant makes a big difference. And the response from people when you make an effort to speak Japanese is amazing! Several times when I said "Thank you" in a restaurant, the entire staff within earshot responded and bowed, it was a lot of fun. Chiyo-sensee is a great teacher and I can't recommend her highly enough. She knows what she's doing and always works hard to help you progress as a student. When I started I knew no Japanese so she told me which book to get and started me right away with basic phrases and learning the phonetic Japanese alphabets. It was always fun and challenging! I took lessons from her for just over a year, and every lesson I knew I had her full attention. She's really good at spotting things that you might not know or understand yet and leading you through them. Finding a teacher or tutor with her patience and attention to detail is a rare thing, and I'd recommend her to anyone who wants to learn or improve their Japanese!

It is $40/hour but if you prefer shorter lesson, 45 min is just $30. For the group lesson, please ask me!
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Please contact me to schedule the first 30 min trial lesson for free. I will send you materials and my Skype ID. It's easy!

I have a certificate of NAFL Japanese Language Instructors Qualification Program which I got in 2008.
