The project started well and has ended a nightmare. I have found several items in "big box" stores at a cheaper price than I was charged. I have had to resort to mediation with the Better Business Bureau to get an itemized statement and receipts to verify charges (which I still don't have). I was given a design "estimate" and it was exceeded without notification. I did not like the kitchen design after the installation and she graciously offered to do a complimentary redesign. I really appreciated that and thought that was very professional. When she delivered the items she charged me $80 for literally hammering 3 nails. She also charged me extra for using a credit card. After checking with my credit card company I was advised this is not legal in Texas. I challenged the charge and she did refund it. I am still trying to settle my account and my project is not finished. I have used designers in the past and have had very good experiences. I would not recommend this designer. I have never posted an online review for anything. I have no desire to ruin a person's business or reputation. However, I have requested in person and via certified letter and through the Better Business Bureau mediation service to be provided with receipts of the items she purchased to verify purchase price and she has refused to provide this information. I don't know why you would do that unless you have something to hide. What is even more unbelievable is when I logged in to write this review I see she has posted pictures from my home! Unbelievable!!!!

The estimate for the original work discussed for design services was for $1000. This client was informed she was charged on an hourly basis and that was an estimate based off the work being completed at one time. As we started the project the client added elements and needed the project to be split into phases due to budget. When the project was split up vs not being completed at one time I informed the client of the additional charges and she had no problem with them. The subjected client was informed every time she requested something that would incur additional charges. On the original estimate the following disclaimer read “This is an estimate on the time required to complete your project. Time required is subject to change dependent upon the job requirements.” Designs by Cayla informed the respected client that she would be receiving discounts but never did we specify where those discounts would be coming from. We provided complementary work and discounted prices for design services provided. In addition this customer received complementary returns and was not charged for the repacking on items she chose to have returned after she approved them. We have provided this client with documentation for the items we purchased for her. To date we have sent her 2 email invoices for the items purchased and 2 hard copy invoices via mail with one of them being sent certified mail and I have confirmation that it was received. We have also provided her with invoices and budget updates through out her entire project. we have received receipts showing that the client did receive proper documentation through out the entire job. All the design services provided were at a discounted rate. We provided her with more than 20 hours of complementary work not ever adding it to her invoice. This client was provided with pictures of all large items and the price of each item prior to the purchase being made. Only after the client approved the items and the prices either with a written or verbal approval did we purchase the items for her. After installing the items for this customer we offered for any items that were not liked to be returned. Some of the kitchen items she didn’t like after they were approved and installed were returned and the client received a credit in which she requested us to use on other items. When the project was complete she informed us that she liked the design and that she was pleased and thankful for us providing her with a complementary new design plan. The client was informed via text message (their requested way of communication) on May 31 that there would be an $80 fee due for the "in home design" which was a discounted rate for the service being provided. We informed the homeowner of the $80 charge prior to the work being started. The client never rose any concern or questions on this charge as she was provided with a service. The homeowner was informed of a charge prior to paying with a card and approved the charge. We did in fact credit her back the $42 charge on 6/23. This client has still yet to pay her final bill for services she has already received.

Cayla was fantastic from start to finish. I had a general idea of the style and decor I was looking for but really needed her expertise for inspiration and working with what I currently have. She offered several ideas for each space and always consulted me first. The best pet was how much time she saved me! I was able to let her come in and out as needed and she always accommodated my schedule. Additionally, I decided I wanted the house painted after everything was done (which is working backwards for her) and she didn't mind. It was a lot of work for her to take everything down she had already done and then back. My place now looks exactly how I want and if I decide to make any changes or additions in the future, she will be the first person I reach out to!

Cayla listened to us, provided options. She demonstrated a command of the process which made a complicated project seem simple.
