FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My standard private lesson rate is 50/hour. I also offer discounts for 2 or more people or for individuals who want more than one lesson per week. I also routinely teach seminars and workshops to groups on a variety of topics, though prices vary depending on the number and length of the workshops, number of attendees, and so forth.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I continually train, travel, and read to progress my personal knowledge and ability. This summer, for example, I am helping to bring in one of my instructors to Dallas from China. During his visit both I and my students will benefit from his depth of knowledge. - How did you get started doing this type of work?
I have been involved in the martial arts for over 25 years now...it was just always that thing I gravitated to, the way someone might discover a love for music or medicine. I continued to refine my knowledge and began teaching over a decade ago as a side business and to expand my abilities. Over time, as I have acquired more depth and knowledge, my part-time job has become a full time endeavor and passion. This is what I do and what I love to do. I consider it a privilege and great compliment that other instructors, from all different styles and backgrounds, routinely seek me out for training and to continue to develop their own arts.
