Question and answer
Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A. Be sure to ask if a contractor has a state electrical license and if they are regeristered in your city as a contractor. All contractors are required to have their license number posted on their truck and have a sign on their truck displaying their company name. Also ask if they are insured for your property protection and if they have workers compensation on their employees. This will protect you, the home owner, if their employee gets hurt on your job. It is required by the State of Texas, for a contractor, to do background checks and drug testing on their service techs.
Q. Tell us about a recent job you did that you are particularly proud of.
A. Two of our men changed an electrical panel, that was burnt up. After they were finished with the job they were turning all the breakers back on and one of them tripped. They went serching in the house to find out what happened. They smelled smoke and went into the attic to investigate. They found a wire that had blown apart and was smouldering. This wire fed the A/C unit, and was the reason for the call to us to come make the repair. At this time we didn't know there was a problem with the wire in the attic. The breaker in the panel had burned the panel up, so we changed the panel. They called on the radio to another man not in the attic and asked for a fire extinguisher. They used it to put out the fire and called for a second one. After they used the second extinguisher, they came out of the attic as Bill French the owner of Mister Sparky, entered the home. He called the fire department to come check, just to be sure. The Fire Captian told Mr. French that his men had kept the home from having serious damages. Our two men recieved a National Hero award in Florida at a Gala with all Mister Sparky franchises from North America present.
