FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Our pricing is not the cheapest in the region, nor is it the most expensive. We try to keep in in a reasonable range to compete with other skilled professionals in the area. I do not price match with those who are cheaper than us because our rates are not only based on a fair market rate for this region, but also based on the fact that we are full time professionals and have spent countless hours learning and improving our crafts. We offer discounts for events involving multiple artists or longer hours, or for events spanning multiple days, and will discuss these on an individual basis.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I start by asking information about their event to get an idea of what to expect and plan for. If it's a photography event, I like to not only know what type of event it is, but also what their expectations are for the photos. Are there any special moments or people that they particularly want to get photos of? I explain not only what I will be doing at the event, but also how the photos will be shared with them after the event is over. If it's an entertainment event, I ask how many guests there will be and let them know approximately how many balloons can be twisted, or how many faces can be painted per hour. I ask if there is a theme so we can come to the event mentally prepared for any requests. I explain our pricing and booking agreements and let them know what steps are necessary to get their event booked and confirmed on our calendar. In the week leading up to the event I call them for a final confirmation of the time and location of the event to make sure we are still on the same page.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I've been a balloon artist since 1989, and have taught at many balloon conventions, seminars, and lectures across the country. I have also produced over 40 educational books and DVDs about balloon twisting that been selling around the globe since 2005. I've been an avid photographer since taking a class in high school in the late 70's, and have also completed the "Complete Course in Photography" through the New York Institute of Photography. I regularly take photos and work on my skills, and I also subscribe to several online forums, blogs, and YouTube channels hosted by respected photographers so I can continue to learn and expand my skillset as a photographer.
