Most people associate carpet cleaning with "steam cleaning. " this has been the dominant form of cleaning since the beginning of the trade. Over the last 30 years new companies have emerged using a variety of different techniques. This is due mainly to limitations of the extraction process itself. First the carpet is left wet for many hours somtimes days. Second, many stains bond with the carpet fiber making "extraction" difficult or impossible. And third, chemicals in the water are left behind because all of the water is not extracted.
