The generator also sold you and serviced your electricity account. Now the generator no longer transmits, distributes or sells electricity directly to the retail business market. The public utilities commission continues to regulate the market, ensuring a safe and reliable supply of electricity.
Local wire companies transmit and distribute the electricity to the end users. They also provide emergency support for outages and safety and ensure the reliability of the poles and wires.
Glacial Energy is a retail electricity provider (REP). REPs now buy electricity wholesale from the generator and then sell and service directly to businesses. The benefits of the 1995 deregulated market is better supply of, cleaner and more efficient power plants throughout Texas. Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A. Stop throwing away money on your electric bill. There are a ton of folks out there that only know TXU and a Fixed price product. They don't look at how much cost is wrapped up in Risk Mitigation. We are in a tough economy. Prices go up usually when demand is up... in a slow economy demand is going to be down... That means that you are paying too much for your electric. I know it is corny but the Gecko's statement of 15 minutes could save you 15% this time applies to your Commercial Electric bill.
Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?
A. I wish that I knew how much it costs to protect myself from typically 3 months a year of variability. It is just basic supply and demand... Wow what a revelation.
Q. What questions should a consumer ask to hire the right service professional?
A. How can I talk to Patrick Dougher? Ok maybe not that but I would want to know how to connect with the real solution presenters not just a clerk.
