Question and answer

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. Finding the perfect photographer for your family's portraits can be overwhelming. Searching for "Dallas family photographer" in itself can result in hundreds (thousands?) of results - each one offering a different style in a different price range.

First off, look at the images in the category of photography you're most interested in. Study the images. Are they in interesting locations? Are beautiful, natural expressions captured? Do the subjects look comfortable? How about the lighting and clothing choices? Images should not look too bright or too dark and clothing should coordinate under the photographer's guidance. Do your research and then give the photographer a call for questions on the details!

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. I found this wonderful quote that sums up our industry well. "Digital technology has caused many changes in the world of photography in recent years. One big change is an incredible influx of people starting up ‘photography businesses’. Having a ‘photography business’ is not the same as being a Professional Photographer. "

It takes years of education and experience before a photographer can find their own style let alone return consistent results to the consumer. Sort through websites but don't just base your decision on price. The old saying, "You get what you pay for" definitely applies to portrait photography.

Q. What questions should a consumer ask to hire the right service professional?

A. Do you carry liability insurance?

What type of equipment do you carry?

What is our back up plan if the weather is bad?

How many years of experience do you have as a photographer?

What professional organizations do you belong to?

Have you won any awards or recognition for your work?

Do you guarantee your work?

Do you accept payment plans or credit cards?

Ask for references!

Q. What important information should buyers have thought through before seeking you out?

A. The absolute best website for helping you research the best photographer for you is www.mommygoggles.com. It will tell you how to judge the websites and assist you in selecting the best individual to captures your loved ones personality and best qualities beautifully.
