Question and answer

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. Ask lots of Questions. What the Stylist likes or loves about what she does? What are his or her greatest strength is? What are his or her greatest weakness is? If you don't feel your stylist is giving you what you want maybe you need to find another stylist.

Q. What do you like most about your job?

A. The people. You meet the greatest people from the ones you work with to the ones you work on. The creativity. It is amazing what a few splashes of color can do for a hair cut and your clients overall look.
It can take very little to make someone feel good about themselves.

Q. How did you decide to get in your line of work?

A. I got tired of hair stylist not listening to what I wanted from my hair style. Most of the time hair stylist do what they want and not what you want. I have fine hair and it can be hard to work with.

Q. Do you do any sort of continuing education to stay up on the latest developments in your field?

A. Yes I do. I have my certificate in Human Hair Extensions and I will be going to get my Certificate in Chemical Hair Straightening at the end of August. I am always taking class on the newest trends in hair cutting and coloring.

Q. If you were advising someone who wanted to get into your profession, what would you suggest?

A. I would have them check out the schools not only by interviewing them but also by checking there pass/fail rate with State Board. Just because something is fancy and expensive doesn't mean they are good. If you as a student can't pass state board all the knowledge in the world is useless. You want to go to a school that has at least a 93% pass rate. Once you have your license than you start to go to continuing education.

Q. Write your own question and answer it.

A. Remember it may take a couple of haircuts for your stylist to understand your hair. If you feel comfortable and have a connection with your stylist, but the hair cut is not working tell her. Trust me she wants to know and if your willing to stand by her you will in the end be very happy.
