Question and answer

Q. Describe the most common types of jobs you do for your clients.

A. The most common job that comes through my shop is custom built 383 Chevy stroker and Ford 347 stroker engines. Ranging from 400 HP up to 550 HP. This is the typical street engine that is wanted and desired, lots of fun to drive yet still streetable and will not need constant maintanance to keep it running. Also the stock rebuilt 305 Chevy and 302 Ford are the most common

Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?

A. I actually spend the time with the customer to find out what their needs are for the build, this way I can give them the service they need and want instead of what I think they want. This gives them a custom build that fits their needs, not a typical cookie cutter build

Q. Describe your most recent project, what it involved, how much it cost, and how long it took.

A. A 1968 Chevy Camaro with a 383 stroker, aluminum heads. This was one of my most favorite jobs. Took about 3 days talking with my customer to know what his intent was for driving style and what he wanted to get out of the project. Then getting a quote to him and the finally approval to do the job. Removal was easy enough even with the standard transmission. Which happened to be a tremec 5 speed. Special needs were done due the the standard flywheel, special balancing was performed with this in mind. The rotating assembly was all Eagle brand and the pistons were Speed Pro Hypereutectic flat tops. Last thing you want is a motor vibration caused from an imbalance in rotating assembly parts. This project was just under $4k. He wanted better name brand parts so we gave him what he asked for. From start to finish including the initial communication took 3 weeks

Q. If you have a complicated pricing system for your service, please give all the details here.

A. Its complicated in a way, but I need all the info I can get about the project, Your goal, what you are doing with it, your driving style, what vehicle it is, what motor it is, will you need it removed and installed, will I have to provide cores to build or will you provide them, All of this information in needed to give you the proper price quote. I know many shops will quote a price and then when it comes time to pick up you project it costs more than the initial quote. What I quote is what is payed, with exception to stock builds, Those have a base price and can change when the motor is taken apart to look at the ware to the hard parts. and most of the time certain hard parts are required to "rebuild" the motor to factory specifications which cause the price to go up.
