About Cy-Fair Music and Arts

Cy-Fair Music and Arts is the place you start and the place you stay!

We offer music classes, from birth to college preparatory. Our teachers are experienced and have university training in the areas they teach.

Our youngest students (birth to age six) experience the joy of music and movement in our world-class Kindermusik program. The Kindermusik curriculum was developed in conjunction with early childhood experts to bring you developmentally appropriate and fun musical learning.

From the age of five or six and older (including adults), we offer instruction in singing (group or private), piano (group or private), drums, guitar, violin, and viola.

Our students have regular performance opportunities.

Whether you are looking for low-pressure recreational lessons, or whether you are looking to make music your career, we can match you with the right teacher to help you meet your goals and expectations.

Question and answer

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. Don't be afraid to ask questions. There are many different kinds of teachers and music schools. You want to make sure that it is a good match. One advantange to taking lessons in a music school with many instructors is that you are very likely to find an instructor that is just perfect for you!

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. Learning to play a musical instrument is a little different from many other children's activities. Even at the beginning stages there needs to be a commitment to daily practice in order to make any lasting progress. The daily commitment doesn't have to be huge at first. Maybe 10 minutes before school and 10 minutes after school. As a parent, you need to help your child work practice into the schedule.

Q. What questions should a consumer ask to hire the right service professional?

A. What are the qualifications of the teacher? Does your school offer performance opportunities for the students? Do your teachers belong to professional music organizations, such as Texas Music Teachers Association? Can my child participate in musical activities like the Texas Theory test, festivals, and competitions if they choose to?

Q. What important information should buyers have thought through before seeking you out?

A. New students need to own or rent an instrument to practice on before they begin lessons. We advise getting the highest quality instrument you can afford. Just as trying to play golf with a stick would be frustrating, so too is trying to learn to play piano on a toy-sized keyboard. We have found that the students who start with a decent instrument are much more likely to love playing their instrument and become much more proficient.
