Question and answer

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. Insure they have a valid state license and sufficient and appropriate insurance. There are many HVAC contractors in Houston very few actually understand their chosen field but are more parts changers rather than actual knowledgeable technicians.

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. Air Conditioning is a science and the relationship between the house and the system is a dynamic and complicated one. The physical act of installing and working on an HVAC system is simple. The understanding of how an HVAC system and home integrate to provide a comfortable, efficient and healthy home is not simple.

The HVAC system is an expensive purchase; it is more expensive to allow a poorly designed and installed system to be put in your home.

Bigger is rarely better and frequently means high utility bills and poor comfort levels.

The majority of HVAC systems in the Houston area are oversized and so poorly installed as to produce less than 80% of their rated capacity and less than 60 % of their stated efficiency.

Q. What questions should a consumer ask to hire the right service professional?

A. What are your installation procedures?
Do you perform a load calculation to determine the proper sized system for their home?
Do you have references?
Are you licensed by the state?
Do you have liability insurance?
