FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I charge a flat fee per room. I believe this structure is just more honest, no hourly or hidden fees. I decided to structure my business this way based on feedback from friends who have worked with other designers, their number one frustration was the surprise bills. Because I purchase in such large quantities from my vendors I do get significant discounts and I do extend these discounts to my clients, my goal with every project is for the discounts to exceed my design fees. I want this to be a “win win” arrangement, I get to make money doing what I love and you spend less than you would doing it yourself.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
My process begins with an initial consultation where I get to know my clients, see the space and determine the scope of work for the project. I like to return for a second meeting with ideas, visuals and examples to make sure everyone is happy with the direction the design will go before beginning the project.
- Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
My forest fantasy dining room is my favorite recent project. I was able to get so creative, I visualized myself walking through the forests of the Pacific Northwest with a mist in the air, puddles on the ground, moss growing on the trees and a storage shack constructed of metal siding in the background. I was able to take the elements from that visual and create an elegant space that is just breathtaking. The process took about four months.
