Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A. For drum lessons, he/she needs to own a drum set so he/she can practice and drive everyone else crazy!
For magic shows, I need to know the type of event i.e. how many kids will be there, will this be at your house or on a stage for a larger audience, etc.
Q. What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A. Do I combine the music with the magic? No. The drum and percussion services are different from the magic services.
Q. How did you decide to get in your line of work?
A. In terms of music, my Dad is a drummer, and I started playing a drum set at age 6. In terms of magic, I was in the 8th Grade, and I had to do a science fair project. I went to the library to look up subjects, but I completely forsook the project when I found a book on magic.
Q. Tell us about a recent job you did that you are particularly proud of.
A. Since my business is two-fold, I will give two answers. First, I gave percussion lessons to a 5th Grader for a year. Most 6th Graders go to Beginning Band, but he tried out for the Katy Junior High Band, and he made their second to top band as a 6th Grader. I give him credit more than myself because he practiced hard.
I did my first kids stage magic show at a church in Katy in early June 2011 with an assistant, and the kids had a blast! That was a huge step forward for me.
Q. If you have a complicated pricing system for your service, please give all the details here.
A. For drum/percussion lessons, I charge $20 for 1/2 hour or $30 for one hour. If you live 20 miles or more from Southwest Houston, I will charge $10 extra.
For magic shows, I charge $75 for a small event such as a birthday party at a house with up to 20 kids. For the kids stage magic show, I charge a minimum of $100 to cover the cost of my assistant. The price can go up if you need anything extra such as the hostess being sawn in half for example.
Q. What is your greatest strength?
A. Since this is a part time with few customers, I can keep my rates low and affordable while focusing my attention to make sure you are completely satisfied. I will get to know the drum/percussion student well enough to know where he/she's at and how I can make him/her better. I can plan a magic show suited to your needs without distraction to make sure the audience goes home talking about the show for a long time.
Q. What are you currently working on improving?
A. I am currently trying to come up with an adult stage magic show that features illusions and smaller magic that captivates adult audiences. This service is not yet available, but I will let you know when the show is ready!
