I genuinely enjoy teaching piano to young people. I have been teaching for 43 years with winning results from local and national competitions. I have started three successful studios in Los Angeles, Cleveland and Houston. My students participate in local classical and jazz festivals, perform concertos with orchestra, participate in chamber ensembles, and perform in community events. Many of my students have gone into music and attended major conservatories, including Cleveland Institute of Music and Rice University. Most use their music as a life time source of enjoyment. I still hear from students from decades ago who are now professional musicians, business people, parents and students, and they will thank me not only for the music training they received in the many years they studied with me, but for the life skills they learned while in my studio. I train the whole child, from how to play piano to how to perform to how to organize their learning style. I have 8 children of my own, and I use my experience in teaching and parenting to help young people reach their full potential.

Working with Catherine was superb and outstanding. Her ability to teach and her experience in classical compositions and composers seperates her from the rest. Her technique is unique and It is exactly what I thought it was going to be. Due to my job duties i'm taking some time off, but I waill return in the near future.

The very best piano teacher in my assessment. Truly admirable, positive teaching style, which brings out the best in the student. Her teaching curriculum ensures strong fundamentals, wide repertoire and excellent technique. Mrs. Bobb's piano students were undoubtedly some of the most accomplished in the greater Houston area.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My rate is a consistent monthly rate which covers the lessons for the month. The rate doesn't change even if there is a fifth lesson in the month. The rate is determined by the child's length of lesson which would be determined by the audition and the student's age.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We would set up a convenient time for an audition for the student. If the student is a beginner, it is still a good idea to meet so the parent feels comfortable with the setting and style of instruction. The student will perform scales, a prepared etude and piece for me so I can assess their placement in the studio.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a BA and MFA from UCLA in piano performance and a MA in piano pedagogy. I have been teaching since 1972, and have taught at Colburn and Oberlin Conservatories. I have had 3 successful studios in Los Angeles, Cleveland and Houston. I have just moved to New Jersey so my youngest can attend Juilliard pre college program, and am ready to start a 4th studio.
