The Music Garden offers early childhood music and movement classes and group piano, ages 6 to adult. We have classes for babies, toddlers, 3-yr olds, pre-piano and piano.

Our approach is unique since it places an emphasis on kinetic and aural preparation to all notation. At age 10, our graduates are fully literate, independent musicians able to sight sing, sight read, compose, transpose and improvise in all major and minor keys. Our alumni are consistently first chair in their middle and high school bands and orchestras.

Since 1984, Leilani Miranda, who holds bachelor and master of music degrees, has been teaching young children and working with their families to promote a life-long love of, and involvement in, music and the arts.

Question and answer

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. Try a free class and see if the vibes feel right to you. How does the provider relate to young children? What is the quality of the music, both the music as "performed" (sung or listened to) in class and the choice of repetoire? You want to look for substance and enrichment.... a timeless repetoire such as folk and classical. What is the educational background and experience of the provider? Talk with other parents in the class to find out how long they have been with the program and their level of satisfaction. Your child deserves the best. They are only young once. This is their shot at a good start.
