Introduction: At this stage in Texas Coast Karate's growth, students get the full benefit of direct instruction from the senior master instructor there. We all train hard TOGETHER. My school, and personal motto is that you get the benefit of the most growth when you step outside of your comfort zone. It's not just about kicking & punching. It's about growing as a person. Training in quality traditional martial arts affects us in so many ways! It always warms my heart to have a student come into the dojang (training hall) to tell a story about how they applied a lesson in class to life outside!

I joined Texas Coast Karate (at the time of this writing) about three months ago. I knew nothing of martial arts beyond what I had seen in movies. Master Boozer was incredibly welcoming, and he was quite excited to begin teaching me, an excitement I saw again with more students who have joined since I began. I started with the primary intention of getting myself in shape. I have a hard time exercising when I don't have something to keep my mind occupied and working at the same time, and Tang Soo Do has provided many challenges to accommodate that. In the short time I've been training, I've learned many simple but highly useful techniques, as well as history behind and practical uses for them in modern day self defense. What I also found was that all of the students at Texas Coast Karate exude the same welcoming quality of Master Boozer, making this an extremely friendly, almost family-like environment. Everyone is incredibly encouraging, and they are more than willing to let me learn at my own pace, answer questions I have, and congratulate me on a job well done. I highly recommend Texas Coast Karate to anyone who's interested in learning self defense, or anyone who, like me, just needs a group of friends to keep them on a consistent fitness program.

I've trained at Texas Coast Karate with Sa Bom Nim Boozer for nearly a year and a half, and I've loved every class. With his guidance, I've never been more fit in my life. He is exceptionally motivational, and the students very supportive.

Texas Coast Karate has been a great place to relieve stress and regain that sense of empowerment over your life. I admire the energy, creativity and dedication that SBN Boozer pours into his classes as well as his students. Definitely has the positive energy flow throughout the school as well as in the students. Also has been a place to build character and emphasize values.

Master Wayne Boozer is an excellent instructor with an amazing personal touch rarely seen in these circles. He also runs his academy with extreme professionalism and efficiency. He is an accomplished forth dan instructor, incredible coach and leader, and a friend. He adapts his style of teaching to the needs of each student and there is quite a variety in our class. If you are looking to get fit, learn self-defense, gain some discipline in life, Texas Coast Karate is the place for you. I wholeheartedly recomend it and I'm sure if you try it you will be back!

FAQs

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Finding high quality martial arts instruction is largely about doing research. Look into the martial art that interests you. Take some time to explore more information about the art, the school you're considering & the instructor that leads it. Never be afraid to ask questions. A good instructor isn't hesitant to answer them.
