Ryan catered my wedding a few years ago and I couldn't have been more pleased. The theme was Celtic/Renaissance and we wanted some hints of traditional dishes without going overboard. We opted for hors d'oeuvres rather than a seated dinner since it was New Year's Eve and we were going to be feeding people for quite a few hours. Ryan concocted some delicious mini-shepherd's pies to complement his luscious spread, which included some wonderful squash "shooters" (with Gruyère cheese, if memory serves). The food was plentiful, with a perfect blend of meat and cheese dishes, crudités, fruits, and breads. The presentation was flawless and I wish I'd gotten a picture. Ryan takes pride in delivering a superior product with fresh ingredients. His skill as a chef is matched by his creativity. Additionally, he is able to manage and motivate his kitchen and wait staff impeccably. In short: Ryan listens to your requirements and surpasses anything you might have imagined.

Proceed with caution. Tends to provide pre-made, store bought items then claims them as his own "creations". The other two reviews are by friends so take them for what they're really worth.

I won't feed into this too much, but sometimes when you have to relieve an employee of their duties, they can sometimes relatiate in such ways as this. Jessica, I'm sorry things didn't work out but, you're certain to find a place where you can fully utilize your skills set. Good luck. R.H.

Clean and Sanitary are understatements! Ryan Hobbs would never qualify for Kitchen Nightmares nor Restaurant Impossible. (He is too clean, and delivers quality products too customers) I would trust him and recommend him to anyone in need of a professional, honest and educated Chef! I have seen his work and dedication to his customers, and he puts himself into every event whole heartily. If you want a caterer too care as much about your event as you do, then hire Ryan Hobbs. He only puts sauces on the back burner, not his customers and clients. Which is more than most can say about caterers, personal chefs and event planners.

FAQs

  • What types of customers have you worked with?

Long term contract private chef services for high profile families. Event planning and consulting. Directing large events. Bi-weekly personal chef visits, preparing delicious, fresh and healthy cooked meals which are then properly stored for maximum freshness, along with easy to understand reheating directions.

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Its not always wise to go with the lowball bid. As the old adage goes, you get what you pay for. And with that kind of headache, are you REALLY saving much, if anything at all? For me, experience, organization, and attention to detail always wins hands down. To get an even balance on value vs. quality, your best bet is to start looking at quotes somewhere in the middle, and working your way up. Great chefs are NOT just good cooks. Most spend thousands of dollars, and even more hours perfecting their skills. A great chef can fetch a hefty price but, rarely will you regret the expense.
