I contacted Wendy Dek because my dog was showing anxiety in unfamiliar social situations. It was not serious yet, but I also saw that my dog's reaction was not improving and I wanted to do something about it before it became serious. Meeting Wendy was a very positive experience that taught me a lot. She "trained" me as much as my dog. Actually she trained me more, because she taught me how to understand my dog better and give him what he needs. That gives me the insights and tools to be able to continue to work with my dog if anything arises in the future. I also highly rate the fact that Wendy uses force free positive reinforcement techniques. Between these and training the owner as much as the dog, if you do you part and follow through with what Wendy Dek teaches you the result will be a balanced, more confident pet. Honestly, I cannot recommend Wendy Dek enough. If you are like me, someone who is willing to invest the time and effort into your dog to make them a true family member everyone enjoys to have around, call her. Even if you don't have a specific problem, she can still help you enormously.

Wendy is an extremely talented, patient, wise and creative trainer. When working with my dog, who is a rescue with anxiety issues, she has been a source of calm encouragement. I strongly recommend training with Wendy!!

From Facebook

Wendy is an excellent trainer! She helped me with my border collie who barked when I left the house (because she was a brat, not separation anxiety like I thought). She was also able to teach her (& me) down, sit-stay, down-stay, and bed in 20 minutes. Wendy helped me realize exactly what my dog was capable of doing!

Wendy helped with our little chiweenie that adopted us. She spent 2 hours with Petee and I, helping me to figure out his severe case of submissive peeing and how to work through it. What a huge difference Wendy made! He is a very happy little guy now, and so are we! Thank you Wendy! I highly recommend you to anyone needing help with their dog.

FAQs

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I am continually attending educational seminars & taking part in online webinars. As with dogs, keeping my brain active via learning is important to me and for everyone of us. Learning from other's experiences, trying different training techniques can only help me grow as a trainer & benefit the dogs and helping their owners achieve their training goal.

  • What types of customers have you worked with?

Thankfully, most people call me when their pet is young so that they can start their obedience training early. By doing this, they are giving their dogs the tools they need to live in our human world and avoiding behavior problems. It is so much easier to teach a dog the RIGHT things to do in the first place rather than trying to modify bad behaviors that have already been learned. Although don't despair - if your dog has already learned some bad manners, it is never too late to change their existing bad behaviors. With time, practice and patience you can have a well behaved, loving pet.

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Make sure when you are choosing a professional dog trainer the person or company that you choose ONLY uses Positive Reinforcement Force Free Training techniques. This will build your relationship with your dog on mutual love, trust and respect. Train without Pain! Your dog will love you for it!
