A. Hi-Lites, Colors, Custom Haircuts for Men & women, Japanese Thermal Straightner, Brazilian Keratin Treatment, Relaxers and Perms
Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A. Dont judge a new stylist by your old stylist proformance.n Thats asking for a failure
Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?
A. Heavy products can be the death of any style and your hair. So theres no need to buy all these differant proucts. if your using a product that is working on you know, then you dont need to change(If its not broken dont fixit.
Q. What important information should buyers have thought through before seeking you out?
A. They should look for if a sylist is going to be attentive to their needs as well as their wants. That should be obvious with a phone contact or in person
Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?
A. My work stands out from others, because I am more interested in what looks good on you and how it makes you feel, and not just trying to sell you a service to get your money. I will go above and beyound the call of duty to make sure you are happy.
Q. What do you like most about your job?
A. I like the diversity fof my client, they range from African American, Brazilian, Caucasion, India, Pakastan. It gives me a chance to find out about other cultures. With the population of the USA growing so rapid i feel its good to know who or what surrounds you. Diversity opens you to something new on a daily baisis.
Q. What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A. Will I look good with this hair style? If it makes you feel good(sexy) then go for it as long as it will not compromise the health of your hair.
Q. Do you have a favorite story from your work?
A. I have had several clients who come in wanting a change and not knowing what they want, but they know what they don't want. Sometimes what they dont want is actually what they need to improve their hair. Once I get there trust and do what they need for the health of their hair they are must more happier.
Q. What do you wish customers knew about you or your profession?
A. That I am a very passionate person who loves people.
Q. How did you decide to get in your line of work?
A. As a child my favorite toy was the barbie heads with hair. If I got nothing but that on christmas it didnt matter. I was only happy with the barbie head. I did my friends hair in collage. With a BS in Computer Science and a AS in Accounting. I get more satisfaction in my current career choice.
Q. Tell us about a recent job you did that you are particularly proud of.
A. I have a cousin that owns a dance studio for underprivileged children and I was ask to style the childrens hair for a dance parade that was give down time. To see the smiles on the childrens faces gave me great satifaction. Also my work with abusive woman trying t start their lives over made me feel like I was a part of making them feel good about themselves, inside and out. Which gave me a bigger sense of achievment.
Q. Do you do any sort of continuing education to stay up on the latest developments in your field?
A. There is always continuing education for stylst. Stylist who feels there is nothing that they can learn is not a Stylist that cares about their clients enough to keep them upto date with the trends
Q. What are the latest developments in your field? Are there any exciting things coming in the next few years or decade that will change your line of business?
A. the only thing that changes in this business is the differant techniques. A lot of the styles are on a recyling wheel. What went of style 5 years ago will evendually come back. The same with fashion still the same style with a little twist. I feel each individual has there own flare and taste.
Q. Describe your most recent project, what it involved, how much it cost, and how long it took.
A. I did hairstyles for underprivalidge children for a dance show. Working with 12 small children is no easy task, when the parents want differant styles for each indivual child with only one stylist and limited time. The cost was a charitable project that took me all but 2hrs. But it was worth it to see the smiles on there faces.
Q. If you were advising someone who wanted to get into your profession, what would you suggest?
A. It takes a extreme amout of patience, and the ability to give your full attention to the task at hand, an artistic eye as well as be a people person.
