Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. Why can't I buy AC equipment and do it myself? First, you have to have a Mechanical Contractors License. Second, you have to be a factory authorized dealer with many of the big name brands. In order to be a factory authorized dealer, you must buy a certain amount of equipment from them every year and go to all of their their training.

Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?

A. I look at the home as a system. Insulation & ductwork need to addressed in order for a new HVAC system to perform.

Q. What do you like most about your job?

A. I like the calls and e-mails after I complete a job. It is great to make make someone comfortable in their home after years of high bills and discomfort.

Q. What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

A. How much does your services cost? I charge a fee of $500 to do all of the testing, measurements and drawings. If I decide to do the project, what happens to the fee? I apply it towards the job. How much does an energy retrofit cost? It all depends on the size of the home, how many HVAC Systems you have and what type of equipment we use. A typical one story home with one HVAC System is between $15,000 to $25,000

Q. Do you have a favorite story from your work?

A. I had to relocate a family of Raccoons that had torn up the ductwork and insulation in one of my customers homes. We did not take them far enough away and they returned. Apparently, you have to take Raccoons over 75 miles away.
