Question and answer

Q. Describe the most common types of jobs you do for your clients.

A. The jobs I get are very diverse, from products, family photos, sports events and weddings to doing that sexy boudoir session for Valentine's Day, birthdays or anniversaries. As a graduate of New York Institute of Photography, I have shot photos in all realms.

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. Ask questions about your photographer's training, view portfolios, get references!! Most of all, get to know their personality by conducting a small interview with them. All of this should give you a good indication of how they will interact with you and your guests at the event. If you don't feel comfortable, move onto someone else.

Q. What important information should buyers have thought through before seeking you out?

A. How much is budgeted for photography at your event? This is not for me to know, it is for the customer to get what they want. Photographer's do put in a lot of time with traveling to and from events, setup & takedown of equipment, working vigorously to get the shot (sometimes there's only one chance) and editing hundreds and sometimes thousands of photos. So, knowing what you want to spend will prevent sticker shock. Depending on your needs, photography can be pricey.

Q. Do you do any sort of continuing education to stay up on the latest developments in your field?

A. I am constantly attending seminars and workshops to see updates in products and learn new techniques from some of the best in the field.
My next seminar will be Oct. 5th, "Light It. Shoot It. Retouch It", with Scott Kelby, awarding winning author of "The Digital Photography Book" and Editor of Photoshop User magazine.
