Jim replaced a patio door, removed and replaced old and crumbling logs around a raised plant bed, and built a large, very attractive patio deck for me. This is the only job he has done for me, but I would definitely call him again for any work I would need. He worked with me on choosing materials and on getting the deck just right. He is a man of integrity who does excellent work for a fair price. He works quickly, keeps to a time schedule, and cleans up everything at the end. You can't go wrong working with Jim! I have not worked with anyone else who was as concerned as Jim about me being completely satisfied with the job.

Mr. Jim Mitchell measured for custom storm panel windows and installed them this Jan. The whole process was smooth and professional. I'm very pleased with the work and the much improved comfort level in our home.

FAQs

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I have recently earned certification from the National Association of Homebuilders: Aging in Place! (This exciting venture is in addition to my customary carpentry services.) As the name suggests many innovations, home adjustments and renovations are available today that allow many seniors to remain in their own homes for much longer than in the past. The Aging in Place course provided a wealth of information, techniques, and accessories that I look forward to passing on to you or your loved ones.

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Get references from friends who’ve had similar work done. Ask questions; how long in business, what projects have you done that in the past. Call at least 3 references, If you are getting bids, get 3 from reputable contractors. Beware of the low bid. For anything more than repair you need a detailed contract with a clause that let’s you back out of contract within three days of signing it, in case you change your mind.
