Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A. Your wedding day is the MOST IMPORTANT DAY OF YOUR LIFE! Next to your spouse, the most important thing you will take home from your wedding is the storybook album to share with your children and grandchildren! What hors d'oeuvres or food was served will not be remembered, and certerpiece flowers quickly wilt; it is the visual story of your album that will last beyond your lifetime! Do NOT trust something that important to a newbie because they're inexpensive! Get a true photographic artist with real credentials! See http://goo.gl/8HTud for detailed pointers on how to find a great photographer in your area!
Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?
A. The digital photography revolution has created cameras which do a pretty good job of guessing exposure, focus, etc. These allow amateurs to take OK photographs without any real knowledge. Such a person is not a professional photographer, they are the pointer of a small photograph-taking robot. Hire a photographer who knows how to model light, who knows how to pose, who has years of experience and many, many weddings under their belt! There is a HUGE difference between the quality of deliberate visual artwork created by seasoned professionals and high-end snapshots.
Q. What questions should a consumer ask to hire the right service professional?
A. I have an excellent, very detailed questionnaire with a large number of questions, PLUS an explanation for every question on how to analyze the answers! This gives you a seasoned pro's insights into the wedding photography industry, so you can be sure to really understand what all the questions listed in the wedding magazines and blogs are really trying to ascertain. Go to http://www.SchneiderWeddings.com/home/weddings/magazine-questionnaire/ to read it!
Q. What important information should buyers have thought through before seeking you out?
A. Most all couples in these economically challenging times are foregoing the services of professional wedding planners, taking that difficult task on themselves. It's easy to get overwhelmed! The first thing you should do is PLAN YOUR BUDGET! Then, PRIORITIZE those investments that have lasting value - like your storybook album - and spend far less on the expenses which will have no lasting value (like a huge open bar). If you have a limited budget, DON'T try to do it all! Prioritize the items into Must Have, Want To Have, and Nice To Have buckets. Totally cut out those things in the Nice To Have bucket (sorry, but you're on a budget, remember?) Trim down items in the Want To Have bucket. Maximize the value of your investment in the Must Have bucket. For instance, did you know you can rent a gorgeous gown for a fraction of the cost of buying it? In fact, you can rent a much nicer gown than you can afford to buy! Your groom will rent his tux, why not rent your gown? CALL ME and I can help you trim down your wedding costs, including your initial photography investment, and postpone some of the expenses (interest free!) for a year or two until you get on your feet!
Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?
A. While there are many areas which differentiate me from my competitors (many of whom are my friends), I would like to share the following major ones.
1) I LOVE WEDDINGS! The vast majority of photographers "do weddings" because they have to in order to pay the bills. Weddings can be very stressful, and there are no 2nd chances for career-killing mistakes, so most photographers would prefer not to face the risk and stress of weddings. For me, capturing the intimacy, joy and celebration of your wedding is the most amazing thing I could ever hope to do professionally! I know my stuff, so I don't suffer from performance anxiety.
2) In fact, I'm so sure of my abilities I offer a 100% money back guarantee! I want you to be THRILLED with both the artwork you commission me to do and with the quality of my service. I will do whatever it takes to make sure you're THRILLED, (even downright giddy), or I don't deserve to be paid. I challenge you to find another photographer who says that in writing!
3) I have EXCEPTIONAL training and experience in the art and science of both film and digital photography, as well as in the technology which supports digital photography. I have 7 years of undergrad and grad studies at SHSU majoring in photography, plus 3 additional years studying IT at SAC and UTSA. I hold CCP, CBIP-M, CDMP-M and CSM certifications. I'm a member of WPPI, PPA, SWPPA, TPPA, PPGH and DAMA.
Q. What do you like most about your job?
A. You!! I like you most, and getting to serve you! I'm a hopeless romantic with a servant's heart. I get to know you, understand your dreams and desires, work with you collaboratively to design artwork which matches your tastes, and help you to get the most joy out of your wedding experience! I get the honor of being your official story teller through my artwork on the most important day of your life!!! Wow!!! I've got one of the best jobs on earth!!!
