Question and answer

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. Look for small classes, mature instructors, and a passion for swimming. The Red Cross Learn to Swim program provides basic steps to learn how to swim. A great instructor will use these steps to ensure the best possible outcome.

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. Learning to swim is an incredible confidence builder, coordination builder, and a source of lifetime exercise techniques and habits, as well as a career builder. I would hope that all aquatic professionals share this information with their students.

Q. What questions should a consumer ask to hire the right service professional?

A. Do you offer Red Cross classes? What is your class size and student to instructor ratio? Can I make up misses classes? Do you also give safety lessons to the kids and adults?

Q. What do you like most about your job?

A. When my student swims across the pool or jumps in unassisted, their eyes are so bright, and their smiles are so big, it makes me proud to be a part of that moment. I can see they caught my love of swimming.

Q. How did you decide to get in your line of work?

A. I was blessed enough to group up with free swimming lessons and a free swim team. I remember learning how to swim and have enjoyed several jobs in the aquatic industry. I can not offer free lessons, but I want to give the best lessons possible so I can help one person love swimming, or keep one person from a swimming accident, I know I've made a positive influence. I do this for my kids.
