Portrait photography with a specialty in high school senior pictures and business head shots is the focus of Ann Martin Photography.

The odd thing about senior pictures is, they're not really for the senior!

Yes we do call them senior pictures, only because that's the point in life we're creating them. But the high school seniors we photograph won't have a portrait of themselves on their wall, or even on their desk.

But you will. And so will the grandparents, and the aunts and uncles, the very close friends, and others who had a role in watching them grow up.

This is your last opportunity to have your child, this person you've raised for over 17 years, photographed. For many families, these are the only true professional photographs they'll have of this person who grew up way too soon. These are the portraits you'll look at long after they've moved into their own place, and perhaps started families of their own.

This is the portrait series that you'll always keep and we know you want something of real quality. We'll give you the quality you deserve at Ann Martin Photography.

Question and answer

Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?

A. We do take extraordinary care with business headshots and senior pictures. Our Dallas photography studio limits the amount of sessions booked each month in order to provide our clients with the highest quality in portraits. Set yourself apart with pictures of a quality above and beyond the expected. Set yourself apart with retouching so expert, it's flawless.

Ann Martin Photography is a Dallas area professional photography studio specializing in business headshots and senior pictures. Our photographers in Plano Texas offer an intensely personalized service and it follows that our portrait studio's prices do reflect the difference in quality and service. Portraits are individually and expertly retouched, and the quality is something special, a cut above.

Anyone can take pictures, but attention to details, perfect lighting, expert tweaking of poses, educating clients how to dress so their images will be the best possible, consultations with clients so their portrait session can be customized for them… these are the types of things that set apart Ann Martin Photography from the rest.

Custom portraiture is not for everyone, it requires a level of commitment, investment in time and money and planning on the part of the subject/client and requires a larger time commitment for the photographer as well.

Q. What do you like most about your job?

A. I like learning about my clients. Seniors are so interesting, I love to ask about their activities or hobbies, what college they plan to go to, what career they're preparing for, what their prom dress looks like, how their school's sports teams are doing that year, and all that other fun stuff.

Business portrait clients are fascinating. I get to learn about their careers and how they got to that position in their career. I like to ask them where they went to school and if they've moved to the Dallas area, what brought them here. I do meet the best people when I'm behind the lens, I'm a lucky girl.

Q. What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

A. Clients generally ask, "what should I wear for my pictures"?

The short version of my answer is: Simplicity is the key to a successful portrait.
1. Long sleeves, dresses, and shirts are recommended. Short sleeves visually cut the arm in two. Sleeveless or three quarter sleeves are the next best option.
2. Coordinate your outfit from head to toe. Don't wear dark jeans and bright white tennis shoes. The tennis shoes will jump out at you in the picture because it will be the lightest object in the image and we want the focus on your face, not your feet. Don't forget to wear socks that coordinate with your pants and shoes.
4. Darker clothes minimize body size. Most people will look better in dark jeans than they will in light colored jeans.
5. Keep the tonal range of clothing in the same group; don't mix lights and darks in the same outfit and if you must, make sure the light color is on top and the dark color is the slacks or skirt. Remember, dark colors recede and light colors will look larger. Nobody, guys or girls, looks good with a smaller upper body and a larger lower body.

Q. What is your greatest strength?

A. I genuinely care about my clients. I want them to look their very best in their portraits from Ann Martin Photography. We don't book back to back sessions so that we are able to spend a little more time, if necessary, with each session. Each client is given the amount of time they might require to look their very best.

Consultations are offered where we'll discuss any questions or concerns you might have. We'll talk about what clothing is the best and why. For senior sessions we'll be discussing any special hobbies or interests you have so that we might include them in your session.

Ann is going to give you the advantage of her expertise. Any tricks or tips she's learned, are going to be passed along to her clients so that their session is painless and the results are everything you've hoped for.
