Question and answer
Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A. There are usually 3 main items:
1. How many years experience have you been djing? Make sure they are not just trying out a new hobby!
2. How extensive is your music library?
Shows that they study trends and styles of music.
3. Do you create your own music?
Shows that they want to be unique and original.
Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?
A. My best secret is to find out what they use to mix with. This senario lets you know how creative they are going to be. Two turntables or cd decks with no midi unit or laptop mainly will be a show with blending limited effects and sometimes sloppy transistions and often limited tracks. Unless your are like the headliners, Aoki, Laidback Luke, R3hab, Robbie Rivera, etc you may want a dj that offers more showmanship than just beatmatching.
Q. What important information should buyers have thought through before seeking you out?
A. Main question I always ask a gig, what is the set up going to be like? Shade no shade, indoor or outdoor, lighting needed, Mics or no Mics, cables to be used to connect systems. Age of audience for sensored music, etc.
Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?
A. In Dallas, not a lot of Djs take advantage of two things. Technology and music available. Everyday I am looking for new things to add to my sets. Music is infinate and too many djs here in town play the same tunes and the same format that it gets very old quick.
Q. What do you like most about your job?
A. I love the energy of the music and the joy it brings people when you can clearly see that they are having a great time. So many negative things in this world and life that it makes me feel amazing when I can give people a few hours of joy and happiness.
Q. Do you have a favorite story from your work?
A. I work in the business community here in Dallas, and my client who dj'd in the past asked me to perform for his daughters sweet sixteen. So I did it at no charge, because thats what friends do. Anyhow, he didnt think I could keep the energy up for 6 hours much less only use his list of sensored tracks. But his two story house became a vegas style club for one evening, where all the people in attendance never stopped dancing and singing, I would cut the track and they knew every word of the songs, amazing that they can memorize lyrics but not information for biology. Anyhow, blew away my client and was voted best sweet sixteen for that year at her school..
