FAQs
- What types of customers have you worked with?
My most common types of jobs are logo redesigns and full rebranding. I often find that small business don't make the initial investment of going through a full logo design process, much less a full brand process. It's really important to realize that a logo and particularly a visual brand are an investment in the longevity of your company not something that just needs to be checked off your list. Your brand should have the flexibility to live beyond what your company is currently producing, and be able to take you well into the future for what you will be doing. Unfortunately, most start-ups learn that there are a lot of cheap alternatives to branding that just don't work in the long run. What started out as saving a lot ends up costing more in the long run. So, I find myself fixing a lot of logos and brands that weren't fully thought out in the beginning.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Interview designers and design firms with the same rigor that you would use to interview a new employee. You shouldn't make your decision based on the cheapest price or best portfolio alone. Ask to speak to past clients, see examples of recent case studies, and have the designer walk you through the process that your project will undergo. Give the designer an opportunity to ask questions about your company and brand as well. The most successful design solutions will come from a partnership rather than a client/vendor relationship. A great designer or firm should be able to identify areas of opportunity that you may not realize, and at the same be willing to turn down a project that won't help you meet your business goals. The bottom line is find someone you trust, not just someone that can do the immediate task at hand.
