Big Tyme is one of San Antonio Premire DJ/KJ companies.
We are a family-owned business, and DJ and karaoke services are what we do for a living, not just as a side job. We have over 20 years experience with the state-of-the-art JBL quality sound. Each system is equipped with 100K songs with music on demand with over 12 million song databases and 100K karaoke songs to choose from, and there is never an extra charge for karaoke.
We pride ourselves in client satisfaction. We cater to the needs of each individual party and we have unlimited consultation. Also, we are bonded and insured for people that are renting halls that require the DJ or Entertainment to be insured.

Big Tyme is the most awesome source of entertainment you could ask for. I attend their karaoke show at the VFW in Schertz, Texas religiously every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Saturday. Trust me on this you won't be disappointed. Fred and his wife Janine put on the best shows and provide the best service ever!

A. Our most common types of jobs are weddings and birthday parties including Quinceanera's. In the month of December, we do approximately 10 Christmas/Holiday parties for company events and private family parties in addition to our 5 regular shows a week. We employ 5 DJs in our company and have three systems running almost every weekend. We have bookings for weddings up to a year in advance.
A. We recently did a wedding at castle Avalon it was our first Jewish wedding and the bride and groom booked us from California just by our reputation. We went above and beyond all expectations even provided music that was not readily available..The Brides parents were surprised at the homework we had done to accommodate the type of music requested. Our last show was for some people that were Mexican nationals and my step-son who is Anglo did the show and they were surprised at his knowledge of Latino music that his show went 4 hours over the scheduled time. Our last wedding went so smooth due to the fact that we provide a wedding itinerary and we extensively cover it with the bride and her job is to relax and have a stress free fun night.
A. Make sure your DJ has a contract. I get a lot of customers call me when their DJ for their event has bailed or not shown up cause they either had a higher paying gig or double booked. Protect yourself with a contract. You may also want to make sure to ask your entertainment provider who will be their DJ for your event. Many horror stories I have heard are they hired a company and spoke with the DJ and when the day arrives they get somebody totally different who is not providing the quality entertainment your we expecting. Even if it's a close friend, please get a contract and if they are insured and bonded even better. Some venues actually require them to have liability insurance.
A. Make sure your DJ has knowledge of the music genres. Too many times the DJ has no clue when you ask them to play a genre like Trival or Dubstep . They will give you a blank stare and say "we don't have any of that type of music" A prepared DJ will have it or have a way of finding it for you. Second make sure the DJ plays what the crowd wants to hear not what he wants to play. Remember he's there to provide your entertainment not their own.
A. Do you have testimonials? Do you have any previous clients that I can contact to ask about your type of show? How many people do you usually bring with you to make sure your system is set up in a timely manner and to help with the show so the DJ is not bombarded by the whole party? Do you have a certain genre of music to accommodate the party? And, do you have insurance in case my venue requires it?
A. Budget for entertainment. Many times DJ's are the last thing people decide on. A good DJ is hard to find cause is they are good chances are they are booked. Don't skimp out of the prices. What seems like a cheaper price may mean an inferior quality of a show. Choose a Dj that has a great reputation and has testimonials and can back them up by providing a way to contact previous clients. We have been in the business over 20 years and their is a reason for being so, we pride ourselves on our work. We are a full time entertainment company not a week-end DJ. Make sure you allow yourself ample money for a good DJ.
A. We are a family based company that works throughout the week at different venues. Our shows can be seen before the hiring of our services. We use contracts for every show no matter how small or big. We pre-plan our show based on the type of music you request per the questionnaire we send you previous to your party. If we don't have a certain genre you are wanting, we have the ability to download music through our subscription service at your party. We care that everyone has a great time and is safe. We take care to make sure our equipment is not accessible to your guests so no one has to worry about tripping over wires or light/speaker stands. Our insurance requires we act professional and provide what our clients request.
A. There is nothing like the feeling that the show is going great, everyone is up dancing, and when that certain song is played and everyone goes nuts. It makes our job so much fun. We pride ourselves on being able to read a crowd and know what they want to hear before they even know. Not always is the new stuff what people want to hear. The older songs bring back great memories and people really appreciate that we know what makes them want to party. Not all shows are easy, but we do our best to read the crowd at all parties. Weddings are our specialty because we use itinerary forms for all our Brides and Grooms and make sure the planning part of the reception is done in advance of the reception so our happy couples can relax and enjoy their celebration.
A. Is lights or karaoke extra? We use contracts that specify what the customer wants. If it's just a basic package, we do not charge extra for lights. If the customer wants a club scene at their party, then we do charge extra for the more extensive package. We never charge extra for karaoke. We do also provide a video montage and projection service that is an extra charge. We do base our overall price on the customer's needs.
A. As a professional DJ, we are usually the first one at the party to get set up, and the last ones to leave. We are always fully equipped to handle almost any situation. We even have music on demand for those that always seem to have the hard to find requests. We always go above and beyond for our clients to make sure their event goes as stress free as possible. Every client is important to us, so we are always readily available for any questions or consultations that may be necessary to make their event a complete success. All our DJ's are professionally trained to provide the highest quality of entertainment and attention to details. We are sure that you as a client will be completely happy with selecting Big Tyme Entertainment.
A. I started Djing in 1984 and did it for fun with a friend of mine whose dad owned a DJ company. Little did I know that the hands of fate would find me and 9 years ago I had an opportunity to buy my own system and went into business for myself. I met my wife a year later and made Big Tyme Entertainment. Now we do over 20 weddings a year and over 200 regular shows a year along with other private parties.
A. Our volunteer project this year was ZooBoo for San Antonio Zoo October 30th and 31st. We entertained approximately 12,000 people and handed out over 4000 pieces of candy. It was a lot of fun.
