I have a practical approach to learning to play the guitar based on the Blues. This can lead to whatever direction the student wishes, as Blues is the foundation for both rock and jazz music.

Students receive computer printouts for every lesson's material, as well as hand written notes to explain the details and practice techniques and goals.

Learn to play both accompaniment and lead by jamming with me, and so immediately apply the lesson materials and theory: Harmony, Chord Forms, Diatonic Modes, Pentatonic Scales, and Chromatic Ornamentation. I also help the student learn whatever songs they are working on that fall outside of course guidelines.

Lessons are $20.00 for a half hour session per week at Century Music.

I have over twenty years of teaching experience.

Question and answer

Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?

A. With over twenty years of experience and two degrees in music, I'm one of the best qualified music teachers in San Antonio. Additionally, I have had many accomplished private teachers myself, including David Underwood, Terry Muska, Jackie King and Herb Ellis.

Q. What do you like most about your job?

A. Teaching music is more than a job to me, as teaching and explaining music to students helps me to learn as well.

Q. What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

A. The most common question I get from young students is, "How did you become such a good performer?" The answer to that is, "Just like every other good performer, by spending a lot of time performing."

George is a longtime friend and has always leaned torwards the academic, analytical side of music. He has a deep knowledge of theory and is a great teacher not just due to experience but because he's so into music and the guitar.
