Question and answer

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. Not all inspectors are created equal or perform the same quality of inspection and report. The cost of an inspection should not be the determining factor of choosing a qualified professional. Saving 30 or even 100 dollars is nothing compared to future repair costs due to missed items on an inspection report. The cost of a good inspection is only a fraction of the cost of a home which is probably the largest investment you've ever made. Reviewing websites of prospects for such things as qualifications, education, experience and testimonials is of great importance. Choose an inspector that will help insure that your home will be a wise investment and valued possession for years to come.

Q. What questions should a consumer ask to hire the right service professional?

A. Are you a Texas licensed inspector? What level of Inspector are you? Are you insured? Are you a member of the InterNational Association of Certified Home Inspectors? What experience and qualifications do you have? How long does it take you to do the inspection? Can I be there when you do the inspection? What separates you from other inspectors? Do you have a website? Do you have past customer reviews and/or testimonials of your inspection services.

Q. Do you do any sort of continuing education to stay up on the latest developments in your field?

A. I take well over the required continuing education as set forth by the Texas Real Estate Commission (TREC) and the International Association of Certified Home Inspectors (InterNACHI). My continuing education information can be viewed on page 3 of my website at www.jwkhomeinspections.com
