Introduction: I think I am more practical than most interior designers. I try to spend my client's money the way I would spend mine. I want my clients to feel that they have received real value from hiring me. No two jobs are ever the same. I enjoy color and like to see the appreciation from my clients that I have given them the courage to use color, if they have been timid, or have reinforced their confidence in doing some things they did not know whether it should be done or not. A lot of people have good ideas, but lack the confidence to proceed with them. I alway tell my clients what I would do if it were my home, truthfully, but the decisions are always theirs to make, because it is NOT my home, but Theirs!

When Sara stepped into my house, she began from the ground up. We had lived in our home for six years, and the walls were all the same light beige they had been since the house was built, and the carpet was the same awful beige too. I needed someone who could help me make my house my own, with my style (and a lot of their know-how), the colors I wanted, and essentially give it a personality. Not to mention, she had to work around the pets and my daughter. I have a love for Eastlake antiques....okay anything antique, so there was a starting point. Today, my home has the most beautiful colors, and draperies that do everything to show my love for richness. The antique furniture is complemented by lighting that shows the look of elegance I wanted, but we still have all the things that allow us to live comfortably day to day when we collapse at night from a long day's work. Let me just list all the "things" she did for us....and this includes supervising installation/workmen, picking fabrics, buying design pieces, etc. etc. etc.....we have new tile, new draperies, new appliances, new bathroom fixtures, new carpet, recovered furniture pieces, new lighting, new bedding, matching linens, and antiques arranged to showcase my love of them. Her workmen she contracted were all top-notch and I trusted them to be in my home. I can't say enough about her professionalism, integrity,character, and sense of humor......and her ability to achieve MY vision when I couldn't do it myself. She is a wonderful woman, and I highly recommend everything she does to make a house your home.

During the past ten years we have hired Sara to design and decorate our offices and homes. There were three offices sized from 20,000 Sq. Ft. to 4,000 Sq. Ft. all were beautiful. My wife won't buy anything for the house without calling Sara first. Sara has a gift for color. She is amazing, she can totally transform a room with color, and once she designs a space, She has total recall, she never forgets the exact colors and tints of everything in the space. When we first worked with Sara she showed us a number of designs and color combinations to get a sense of what style and colors we liked. Once she knew our taste. She pulled everything together. we didn't have to give it a second thought, everything was perfect. The last thing I'll say about Sara is she's fun to work with, she has a great sense of humor and she's a kind and loving person. I highly recommend her.

Sara picked out and arranged for painting of the the perfect wall paint color for our library, entry way, laundry and kitchen to warm up our home. She also arranged for a special painter to stencil a half wall in the dinning room; recovered dining room chairs and family room childs chair; designed throw pillows and fire hearth cushion for family room; helped with furniture, rugs, art and bric-a-brac placement throughout the downstairs; advised on ceiling light fixtures. Goodness, did I leave anything out? We wanted to have everything completed by a certain date and Sara went out of her way to make sure each detail was executed to perfection and on time. We are extremely happy with the results! Our downstairs looks and feels just like 'us'!

Our company has utilized the services of Sara Scheale for several years for both commercial and residential design services with outstanding results. Recently Sara was called on to redesign the interior of a condominium in the Galleria area of Housto. The plan she submitted outs was tanding and resulted in three sales offers being submitted as soon as the property was put on the market. The unit sold for the highest square foot price of any unit in the complex. Her design and color coordination skills are outstanding.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
When I am hired, I require a Retainer, up front, of $1000.00. IT IS A CREDIT! I do not charge for time if the time I spend results in a purchase, so there is never an additional fee tacked on to purchases. If there is a credit left at the end of the job, the credit is given on the final invoice.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I usually talk with a prospective client over the phone, make the appointment, and meet with them at the project site. Sometimes it is necessary to also see their old location and existing pieces and colors if they will be pertinent to the new job.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
It is a mandatory requirement that I have new CEU's yearly for ASID and to keep my interior designer license current. I also have 35 years of experience and have excellent workmen who work on my projects with me.
