FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I get updated emails about fashion, and what's changed and what's not, and how to keep contact with my clients, and stuff like that. I also have bridal magazines that I get every now then, to look at to see what's fashion.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
Well I've told this story several times, and it still amazes me to this day. Back in 2005, my Senior year in high school, I took a class called Hospitality & Travel. It introduced us to alot of things about hotels, hospitality, catering, etc. I did learn alot, and there are still somethings that I remember from that class to this day. When I took that class I want to work in a hotel so bad, it looked so fun. So, I applied at a few, but it wasn't what I thought it was. So I never worked in a hotel again. So I went to school, for Counseling & Psychology, since I always, was the peace maker with my friends. But that too, never worked out. So, I'm moving onto 2008, and in the Spring and Summer of 2008, I went back to school and changed my major to Criminal Justice. I passed the Intro to Criminal Justice Class with an 80, I couldn't have been so proud of my self then I was that day I received my grade. But then I felt that, that didn't fit me at all. So, I was starting to get to so confused on what I wanted to do, then I remember that fatefull day back in my senior year, when we went to the expo center to help my teacher set up for an event. Those of us who were allowed to go on the field trip got to go help her set up. Well I was allowed to go since I was passing all 4 of my classes. And me and one other student help our teacher setup for that event that weekend. And that day just setting up and doing all the decorations and putting things together, seemed really fun. And that I my calling came to me. Me being a Event Planner came to mind. So after remembering all that I went through in this class I knew my dream was about to come true, and now all I need to do is find a school that has a Event course. So I got online and I was searching for school's that had Event Courses, didn't find much, but I found one, and that was U.S. Career Institute. I was so excited, that I applied online and started my course right away. I finished it with in a month almost 2 months, but not quite. But I mainly wanted to do events, but events seems alittle tougher to get into then weddings. Weddings was just an easy access, but I remembered, it is doing events, it's a special kind of event. It involves planning, so what I'm complaining about. And I received my Certificate last November, of 2009, it was the best birthday present I ever received, other what I actully got for my birthday. But it did take me awhile to on my feet, and I had to plan how I was going to market myself. And it came along just fine. Plus, it did take alot of patients to get where I am today.
- What types of customers have you worked with?
So far, I've just done Wedding Day Director, and started to plan just a wedding, but that client back out on me all of a sudden.
