Question and answer
Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A. As with any service provider, it's extremely important to look into the experience you're buying into. With some quality equipment and software, video production professionals can deliver great final products, without killing your budget. It's not necessarily the size of the building and all the bells & whistles that delivers the best projects to you, but the expertise of the people behind the knobs and buttons that turn their equipment into tools that will craft great music and video for the customer. Lose the high overhead, find people with and experience, and save yourself some money while at the same time receiving great video production results.
Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?
A. I've loved the magic of music & video production for most of my life now, and as you look at my portfolio of projects ranging from Emmy & Telly Award winning custom music scores to a wide array of nationally and locally awarded video projects, my love for quality music/video productions is evident. Furthermore, what helps me stand out is not only my diversified experience, but my completion of projects with the goal of keeping them very affordable for you. I maintain low overhead costs and keep my skillset polished so I can deliver both the seasoned experience that professional level productions demand, combined with providing budget conscious rates that are extremely competitive.
Q. How did you decide to get in your line of work?
A. I've always enjoyed playing music, taking pictures, and telling stories with video since I was young. As I grew older, I wanted to find a career that would be enjoyable and fulfilling for many years since I would be working for several decades. I found the video production field to be a healthy blend of my initial passions. In the music/video production line of work, we are able to work with pictures/video, music/narration/sound efx, and other visual effects to craft stories that make an impact. It also provides variety and keeps the spice in my chosen career. One week we could be editing a tv documentary or creating custom music scores, and the next week we could be shooting video for sports or producing a music video.
Q. Tell us about a recent job you did that you are particularly proud of.
A. In Salt Lake City, I recently teamed up with award winning pianist Paul Cardall to work on a multi-camera music concert video editing project. Paul, after undergoing a miraculous heart transplant surgery, was performing publicly for the first time. With Salt Lake City's beautiful Abravanel Hall as the venue, Paul used a multi-camera setup to capture his and other guest artists' live performances in his sold out "Celebrating Life" concert. We used the professional Avid Adrenaline editing system to craft the entire hour and a half special. This dvd is now available as a 2-disc set in conjunction with Paul Cardall's "New Life" album release.
Q. Describe your most recent project, what it involved, how much it cost, and how long it took.
A. Recently, I received a request by a mother who wanted to shoot a custom music video for her daughter featuring a cover song from Christina Perri's "Jar of Hearts". We first had to plan out various phases of production to make it happen in an orderly and cost-effective way. Then we proceeded to bring her in to record vocals in the studio, mix & master the track, and then on a separate day we headed to the shores of the Great Salt Lake to shoot the video. Using the ocean-like backdrop of this unique lake setting, we strived to capture the solitude and heartfelt emotion found in this song's message. Following the shoot, I edited the video to her original recorded master, and then mixed it down & delivered it on a dvd format. The total project was under $500.00, and from first contact to final product took just a few weekends to complete.
