Sorry this pro can’t do your job, but we know other pros who can.
Introduction: My teaching stands out from other guitar instructors because I have developed a curriculum that is specifically tailored to your needs and your interests in music. I can help you out with the basic fundamental techniques to play your instrument, as well as the more obscure aspects of playing at a high level due to my background in studying from the University of Utah. I am one of the very few guitarists that possess a degree in Instrumental Music Education. I can teach from a variety of different teaching angles that can help anyone and everyone interested in guitar or music lessons. I've taught everything from Orchestra, Wind Ensemble, Jazz Band, and Guitar Ensembles. I feel confident to provide you with the best instruction available. The best part about my job is that I really enjoy to see my students progress. I'm constantly trying to find the best way to balance your progress with having fun, and enjoying your instrument. The whole purpose of learning a musical instrument is that it provides you with a sense of peace, satisfaction, and enjoyment. When I see my students get better and play with confidence, it provides me with a sense of accomplishment because I know that my teaching methods are working. I am honest and sincere when I say that each and every one of my students are progressing and learning more than they would without my instruction.

My daughter (11 yrs old) has been studying guitar with Dylan for over a year now and I have worked with over a dozen instrumental teachers for 4 kids over many years. Dylan is a spectactular, patient, encouraging teacher, as good as the best of some really wonderful teachers we have worked with. He knows the guitar inside and out (along with a dozen other instruments) and is a fabulous player and instructor. His ability to teach musical theory and practical technique both excel. Within months my daughter was able to learn key chords and strum patterns, play popular music, and accompany herself singing. I couldn't be happier with our interactions with Dylan and think studying with Dylan has been a really valuable part of her life.

My two boys ages 9 and 16 started taking acoustic guitar lessons from Dylan over a year ago. They enjoy their lessons each week and never once have complained about going to their lesson or practicing. Dylan is an excellent professional instructor who my kids can relate to, especially my 16 year old who would love nothing better than to be playing his video games 24/7. Playing guitar has instilled a confidence in both boys that they didn't have before. I am thrilled when instead of playing video games, they choose to pick up their guitars and start playing. I know they look forward to the positive reinforcement & guidance that Dylan gives them each week. Dylan is an easy going, positive influence for my boys and we have the highest respect for him as a musician and teacher. I couldn't have found a better instructor.

I looked for months for a teacher who would accept my son at only age 6. Dylan was willing to give it a try even though my son would be his youngest student. My son has been taking lessons from Dylan for over 6 months now. Dylan is very patient and great at listening to my son and making adjustments to his age and skill level. He is kind in his corrections. My son absolutely loves Dylan and looks forward to his lessons. It is amazing to see how well my son is playing. He is always progressing. Dylan is great at communicating with parents as well. We really appreciate how he sends monthly reports about how your child is progressing with specific goals and graphs it to show how practice time helps increase skill. I have told several friends about Dylan and will continue to recommend him.

Dylan is a very kind and patient teacher. My third grader loves him because Dylan teaches him to play songs on the guitar like "Beat It" and "Iron Man." I like Dylan because he has his degree in Music; that is a must for any music teacher in my book!! Dylan is pretty mellow; I feel that is essential, in an instructor, when teaching young children string instruments!

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

The best advice for anyone interested in guitar lessons is to find and study someone who has done their schooling from a University or an accredited music school. There are a lot of guitar teachers out there, a lot of them lack the schooling involved to teach at a proficient level. That is why it is so important to work with a professional that is classically trained. A lot of novice teachers lack the ability to teach you in a manner that dictates progress and high level technique. Not only did I graduate from the University of Utah with a degree in Instrumental Music Education, I possess a teaching license issued by the Utah State Office Board of Education. I have experience working with children and adults of all ages and of all skill types.
