FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
The small business initiative is not complicated. However, we do many custom, and complicated projects, which sometimes take 3 weeks to scope out properly. If you need to automate something that hasn't been done before, we are particularly good at that, but the job scope and pricing can be extremely detailed and sophisticated.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Constantly. However, traditional schools are typically behind the industry. The gap is getting less and less, but the individuals who come out of the University are a smidge behind. I have to look at their work a few months back, sometimes a year back, and decide if their talent and work load is up to par. If it is, I know they can get up to date quickly.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I won a contest from Microsoft called "Activate the Internet" in 1996. I was the marketing director of a national insurance company. I sat down with my boss and said, "I think this internet thing is going to be something. I'd like to take a sabbatical and check it out." He said, "I'll see you in 6 months." (I've never been back)
