My 8 year old daughter has been with Chords of Joy for 2 years. I took piano when I was 8 but my daughter has now surpassed my own knowledge of music, piano theory, and ability to sightread. I was leary of group lessons at first, but it has been a great benefit since the kids can gague themselves with one another. Also, the children and parents become good friends. My 10 year old son is also enrolled. He enjoys using options on the keyboards. He started years ago in traditional private lessons which somehwat hindered him. I wish I had known about Chords of Joy back then so he could have started off on the right foot. When I spoke to a musician in my neighborhood about how my children are learning solfege, she said "I wish I had known that before college. It would've made my music theory courses so much easier." Ms. Cyndi is genuine with her tolerance, patience and kindness toward each child.

My daughter struggled to learn piano in the traditional way and was ready to quit altogether. Chords of Joy and Mrs. Cyndi opened up a whole new way of learning as well as an in depth approach to music. She now loves the piano and wants to tackle other instruments. This program teaches you far more than just how to play an instrument but about all aspects of music from composing to transposing and beyond. Understanding how and why things work in music gave her the whole picture and increased her abilities and love for music. She often sits down to play the piano just for fun and can transpose the song into another key with little effort. Chords of Joy has given her the confidence to succeed and a chance to understand music in a whole new way.

Tools give the advantage in life.....knowing what tool to use and how to use it....INVALUABLE!!!! Music is a puzzle and we teach WHAT each piece means and...HOW it is used and fits in to the big picture. The beautiful musical picture evolves as each students puzzle comes together uniquely and masterfully for their own style. Truly incredible and amazing to watch confidence, talent, and gifts, and excitement emerge as each student learns music concepts in a hands on manner. Experiencing them as they learn. This allows for greater retention of skills, understanding of concepts and the creativity bud to blossom! I love what I do and I love seeing the sparkle in each student's eyes as they progress and learn! Truly amazing!
