As a dog lover and owner for more than 40 years, I never experienced the desired relationship with my dog until Jenn and Big City Dogs took over his training. After a two week board and train program, I was able to walk throughout Alexandria City with my dog at my side, unleashed. If you want a new and enhanced relationship with your dog, Jenn and Big City Dogs will certainly deliver. Walking with your dog, untethered by a leash is simply amazing for both. Jenn is exceptional with all types of dogs. Her skills run the gamut from puppy training to dogs with any type of behavioral issue. She trained my puppy at 6 mos old and today he is almost 12 and has been the best behaved dog ever. I get compliments on him all the time from strangers..She is extremely talented and patient..but most important she gets results.

Stumbling upon Big City Dogs was a total game changer for me. I have, or should I say HAD, an unruly French Bulldog. When one gets a dog of a certain breed, you expect it to have certain characteristics and traits. A French Bulldog was to be fun, silly, loveable and a real people pleaser...much like my other Frenchie. Beau was a bit different. I had him from 9 weeks old and had not raised him any differently than any of my other dogs. He was the only one with a bad attitude. Beau struggled with his confidence and apparently could not learn his proper place within our pack. Because of that, he became territorial over his house and his people and would act out towards people and other dogs in an aggressive manner. While I was flattered that he wanted to protect us (me) that much, it's not what I signed up for. Jenn took him in as a 2 week board and train and renewed his confidence and gave him boundaries. I remember distinctly the day she brought him to the house for a visit to show me some of his progress. I burst into tears because I just couldn't believe that was MY dog. Beau has come so far and I couldn't be happier. On a rare occasion, he will try to slip into some of his old behaviors but it is quickly met with consistent correction. Consistency is key with Beau and probably many dogs that are "behaviorally challenged". There are not enough 'thank you's' out there for what Jenn has done for us!!

Jenn was awesome! We went away on vacation, and when we came back it was like we had a new dog. And she trained us too! We never realized how much the dog picks up from our cues. Learning how to carry ourselves, give commands, use positive reinforcement and praise good performance was all part of the experience. We give Big City Dogs our highest recommendation!

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Work with qualified trainers!! Dog training is so much more intricate than just learning how to teach a sit and down to a dog. Work with someone who knows many different methods to training..there is no ONE WAY FITS ALL kind of thing is this line of work.
