I have just moved to the area, and had friends coming into town for the weekend, so I was trying to finish geting settled in my new place. I called Philip late in the afternoon asking if he could help me put together an IKEA shelf. The next morning, Philip was at my door. Not only did he put together my shelf, in the two hour minimum for which he charges, he also helped me hang pictures, wall shelves, and even addressed an issue I had with another IKEA piece I had purchased. If you don't have the time or patience to put together furniture, he's worth every dollar.

Phillip did an excellent job. He arrived on time, he had all the necessary tools, and totally knew what he was doing. It was fast, easy, and well done. I will hire Phillip again next time I have furniture to assemble.

Excellent all around. Great communication. Available on short notice. Presented options for the wall of curtains I needed installed, arrived on time, had all the right tools, and the room looks amazing now.
AND- I showed Philip a few more things I'd like to get fixed in the future -- he fixed them ON THE SPOT!
Very pleasant gentleman, and price is very, very reasonable. Will definately be calling him again, and I'd recommend with no hesitation.

Philip was extremely professional, put me at ease (I was home alone with my daughter), and used the time efficiently. He explained his thinking when a decision needed to be made but consulted me for a final decision, and he took great pride in his work.

Philip arrived in a timely manner. Installed a ceiling fan quickly and efficiently and was even able to install a second fan, which was not part of the original job request, during the same visit. His fee was well worth the service. I would contract him again and I am happy to recommend him as well.

Description Of Work:
Two glass doors hung on an IKEA Billy bookshelf; large wardrobe assembled consisting of two cabinets and sliding doors.
I contacted Philip to put together a very large (78x92) wardrobe in our master bedroom. He responded quickly and asked a couple of follow up questions such as type of doors and any accessories, so he could provide me with an accurate quote. Since our wardrobe is actually two cabinets together, the price came out to be $160. I also asked him if he could install doors on one of our IKEA bookshelves, which was an extra $30.
I contacted a couple of people about this work and Philip was the most responsive and professional. He was easy to reach by e-mail and provided me with his cell phone number as well. I had to change the time of our appointment the night before due to a scheduling conflict and Philip was able to work with me - all right after he had left me a voice mail confirming the details.
I came home today to evenly hung IKEA doors on our bookshelf and an amazing wardrobe. The only mess - the boxes for us to recycle. I cannot wait to work with him again.

I had procrastinated for months getting this table assembled, and I had relatives coming for Christmas, so I needed to get it up. Philip saved the day! Within 20 minutes of emailing him, he gave me a quote for the table and indicated that he could get there within a couple of hours to install it that day (which was especially good, since we had recently gone through a record-setting blizzard and the roads were still not entirely clear).
Once Philip got there, he went straight to work and worked diligently until the job was done. He was very friendly, polite, and professional. His fee was a bit high, as compared to the other quotes I received later that day, but it didn't seem unreasonable -- particularly since he was so quick to respond and available to do the same-day request. I would definitely use him again and recommend him to others.

Philip assembled some Ikea furniture I had purchased. He also dis-assembled and re-assembled a futon bunk bed that I had moved from my former home, and he mounted my flat-panel TV in my new home as well.
Philip is very courteous and friendly and does good work. I thought his fees were very reasonable and certainly worth it! He is very flexible in his scheduling.

A. If people want an accurate estimate it helps to have a web link to the products, or full brand names and models, prices, options they have chosen, photos, and location of where the work is to be done. It is often a lot better to send me an email if an accurate price quote is needed because by phone it is difficult to gather all the needed information and quickly come up with the final price.
Sometimes customers would email me from their work email with their business address without telling me that the work is to be done in their private home. That might affect the price quote I give them or we might have to even reschedule if travel time is substantially longer to the actual location, or I might arrive very late and they would be disappointed.
A. When I do the work there will be no spare parts left out that were supposed to be used during the assembly, like bolts, nails, dowels, felt pads, etc. All pieces will fit snug and be tightened to the right speciffications with no pieces loose or cracked due to overtightening. There will be no scratches and dents on the newly assembled product left by me.
I also doublecheck all the parts for the correct colors and factory or shipping defects before I even begin any work. That way I would rather have to come back when the correct equipment is available than assemble or install a product that the customer would not like.
A. It really excites me that I am able to urgently serve people in the entire Washington DC metropolitan area and accommodate their schedule by often working in the evenings and weekends. I also get to travel to a different place each day and learn something new about the area in the process, besides facing unique work challenges. What is more important, every single day I am working I am indeed adding value to the customer and society as a whole. Otherwise they would not have contacted me. It is as simple as that.
A. I am often asked if I have lots of experience in doing that kind of work. Oftentimes I don't even have to look at the assembly instructions and can execute the job better and safer than it is described in these instructions. For example, in some cases assembling an item sideways might give better structural support than building it straight up, or changing the order of the steps can ensure that the more delicate pieces are installed at the safest time. Or a flat-screen TV mount might fit the TV unit but the wall might not have enough structural support for that particular combination. In that case I warn the customers that a different mount or location are needed.
A. As an entrepreneur I constantly acquire new knowledge and can offer services in various business fields depending on my interests and passions. If you haven't done so yet, you can view my websites to see how I combine art with remodeling, multimedia, and overall design.
Furthermore, I often serve as a multimedia consultant on large conferences and events, so I stay up to date with all the latest TV's, sound systems, projectors, speakers, screens, lighting, soundboards, etc. Also, I often shop for customers and offer them what furniture or equipment would be a good fit and value for their circumstances and homes.
A. I got a call from a lady last Friday evening that had been struggling to start assembling an IKEA sleeper corner sofa all afternoon. Even though she asked a neighbor to help her out that does landscaping, both of them together couldn't even start the assembly. Ikea has pretty detailed instructions but just like other furniture manufacturers, instructions alone are often not enough when someone has not assembled an identical unit before or at least a similar one.
She happened to live nearby so I was there in about half an hour. I had previous experience with the same model sofa so I was moving along pretty quickly, but toward the end a small bracket just wouldn't quite fit. It took me a few minutes to think, then pushed the whole sofa in a corner to get it stabilized so that I can twist it just enough to make the bracket slip in correctly. There was just no way the customer would have been able to finish the assembly without experienced help or at least someone with engineering or mechanical background. So, in no time and for the minimum charge that I offer (less than a hundred) the sofa was completely finished and ready for her weekend visitors.
