I had the great pleasure of experiencing Danielle's yoga classes when I lived in Northern Virginia. I have done Yoga & Pilates for a number of years and I am also a Chiropractic physician who specializes in movement pattern re-education. Danielle's skill and intuition enlightens and molds each of her classes. Her passion for growth is a gift to each of her students. Her healing and giving nature allows all levels of participants to not only "find" their moment, revel in it but find a gentle way to welcome their next step, whatever that may be. I am very grateful for my time in Danielle's class and even more grateful for what I learned and found in my private sessions with her. I look forward to getting back to the area to work with her again! Don't pass up this chance to introduce yourself or someone to movement and time that is nutritious to the mind and the body!

I have been a student of Danielle's for over 5 years and she also does Yoga twice a week for my 2 year old daughter and 4 year old niece (who has a mild form of Cerebral Palsy). Danielle is a miracle worker when it comes to the body. She is honestly so much more than just a Yoga instructor. She is an expert Body Analyzer and takes your overall wellness and wellbeing into mind when creating a program for you. For me, that usually means a combo of Yoga, Pilates, Physical Therapy and de-stress/relaxation. She is always flexible if my body is just not in the mood to cooperate with what she had planned for me and that is exactly why I prefer working with Danielle over taking a class where the routine is set. I honestly just can't say enough. Yoga with Danielle is the high point of my week and my little girls feel the same.

We have been students of Danielle for more than six years. She has patiently led us though yoga moves and positions, ever watchful for moves that might injure, rather than benefit, our older bodies. Each session is a little different and she easily changes her routine to accommodate requests to either focus on or avoid a particular area. Our lives have definitely benefited from improved muscle tone, increased flexibility, and better balance. We cannot recommend Danielle highly enough.

Yoga was intimidating to me at first. I don't know why now because my awesome yoga teacher, Danielle, makes yoga so friendly and inviting. Not only does she bring good vibes and energy
to a room, Danielle is fabulous, approachable and intuitive to your needs. Love her and her yoga classes.

Danielle's classes are not about perfecting your poses, they are about becoming more self-aware both physically and spiritually. They are better than any yoga classes I have ever taken. She has a gift.

A. My clients are generally women. I enjoy working with people who intend to take good care of themselves and see the value of their optimal health and well-being to their family and their ability to remain independent as they age.
A. If you are looking to try yoga for the first time individual instruction is a nice place to start. Once you become comfortable, you may decide you prefer having an individual “class” or you may choose to seek group yoga classes at your local gym or yoga studio. Private instruction is great because it allows you to enjoy a yoga practice that is custom tailored to your energy levels and goals each session. It also gives you the flexibility to enjoy yoga on a day and at a time that works for you, instead of working with someone else’s schedule. When you hire a private instructor there are no other students to compete with or distract you, and you can be sure you will get the attention you need to ensure a safe and effective practice.
A. There are a wide variety of trainings, certifications, and specialties available to yoga teachers. The quality of yoga teacher education varies a great deal. Not every teacher is a good fit for every student. Make sure your chosen instructor has interests and specialties that suit you. Make sure your teacher shows an interest in her field and continues to expand her knowledge through books, online education, and live workshops. Meet your potential teacher ahead of time and make sure she is someone you can trust and will look forward to welcoming into your home.
A. Ask what interests your potential teacher has and what she most enjoys about yoga. Ask what types of people she works with and why. Ask for the name and contact info for one of her other clients who can tell you about working with her. Ask about what types of payments option she accepts. Make sure you find out if you are within her service area and if she has a time that is convenient for you available in her schedule. Let her know about any special considerations, such as osteoporosis, surgery, back problems, difficulty getting up and down from the floor. If possible, meet your instructor or speak with her over the phone before your first session.
A. If you have an injury or medical condition be sure your doctor has released you to exercise. If you smoke, notify your instructor before your first session.
A. Over the years, I have had many people tell me that they find my presence relaxing. It is a gift to be able to help people who are usually “high strung” deeply relax through yoga. My training allows me to work safely with all adults, including seniors with arthritis and osteoporosis. I most enjoy teaching gentle and restorative yoga. The way I teach yoga is not a formula or method. It is uniquely tailored to you. I show up for each session with an open mind. Then we will work together over the hour to relieve whatever aches, pains, or stresses your are currently experiencing through gentle movement. I feel very grateful to be a yoga teacher, and I know it shows in my work.
A. What I like most about my being a private yoga instructor is the feedback I get from my clients. It makes me feel so good to hear how much better people feel after a session with me. I know I make a difference in the quality of the lives of the people I serve because they tell me so! Knowing that what I do is both meaningful to me, and to the people I work with, is incredibly fulfilling. My clients are always happy to see me at their door, and that keeps me waking up with a smile each day. I love knowing I make a positive contribution to the world by doing what I was born to do and being well paid for it. There are dozens of people walking around in the world who are happier and healthier because of what I have to offer. What a gift! I can’t possibly imagine a better way to spend my time. I also love having the flexibility to make my own schedule and take my work with me anywhere in the world, should the opportunity arise.
A. I can’t tell you how many times I have seen the surprise and delight in someone’s eyes when they touch their toes for the first time! It never gets old!
A. There is a lot of misinformation out there about yoga. If you can breathe you CAN do yoga. However, this does not mean all styles of yoga are right for you. I see a lot of yoga out there in studios, on DVD’s, online, and in magazines that is not appropriate for the vast majority of people. If you can’t breathe easily of feel unsafe in any way, PLEASE be your own advocate and ask for help or skip out on doing a pose. Yoga related injuries are increasing and can be serious. Play it safe and your practice will progress.
A. I loved taking yoga classes, so I decided to try teaching. After I taught my first class I thanked the students for being there because it was my first time ever teaching. They applauded and said they never would have guessed. I knew then that I had a natural gift for teaching.
A. I have a client who could no longer get up and down from the floor when we first started working together. Now she is able to do this with ease and feels much more secure and independent.
A. I spend a great deal of time and money studying yoga and wellness related material, completing online trainings, and going to workshops. I think it is very important to keep up to date on research, safety, and technique.
A. Much medical research is being done on yoga for healthy aging. In the years ahead, having training in adaptive techniques that make yoga accessible for seniors will be very important. I have this training and am looking forward to expanding my knowledge base as studies continue to be published.
A. My hourly rate for most sessions is $75.00-$95.00 per hour. I may be willing to travel outside my usual service are for an additional fee. Workshops, retreats, and workplace wellness options are also available on my website.
A. Find a Yoga Alliance approved yoga teacher training in your area by going to yogaalliance.org. Try taking classes from teachers who have trained in the style you are interested in and see how you like it. Most yoga teachers work part-time in the evenings at gyms and studios as independent contractors, so consider if this is something you that fits into your lifestyle. Yoga teacher training varies in price and quality, so be sure to do your research before you commit your dollars to a program.
