Question and answer

Q. Describe the most common types of jobs you do for your clients.

A. Corporate and business portraits and general photography for new and existing websites. Editorial features including food, human interest and corporate events. Clients include. NYU, General Motors, The Boston Globe, The Washington Post, Kaiser Permanente, StrataComm, AMA, Chevrolet and many more from very small start-ups to some of the nations largest.

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. Quality, quality, quality! Always hire a "real" professional with experience and a portfolio that knocks-your-socks-off. One who can deliver on deadline/budget and the first time - every time. There are few "retakes" in life/business and budgets are more guarded than ever. Getting the best quality product first time around is vital. (We have all heard the horror stories).
Note: Literally anyone can now buy a "page one ranking" on the major search engines for a nominal fee making it even more difficult to know who to hire.
My sites are 100% original work and I exhibit very recent samples assignments for your assurance of consistency.
Quality affordable photography is within reach.

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. Photographers come in all levels of quality, ability, experience and cost. Now that literally anyone can hang a business shingle on the World Wide Web it is much harder to select a true professional service. Quality and experience should trump price especially since the margin can be very small and so much riding on the results.
I tend to focus on commercial, business, editorial and promotional interests who understand and appreciate the tremendous value that high quality photography can bring to their business, publications or website which now allows that all important 24/7 shopfront experience.

Consumers are ever more savvy and now expect increasing standards of visual appeal and professionalism. The expect your online experience to be delightful.
It's a ever-shifting and exciting time for photographers and I expend much thought and energy trying to differentiate myself as an experienced and trustworthy professional providing a highly polished service to fit your budget.

Q. What questions should a consumer ask to hire the right service professional?

A. It's never been harder to differentiate the real quality photographers who you'd trust with your important moments, time and money from the weekend warriors, since digital made everyone capable of making something of an image with a camera.

1. Are they insured and registered as a local verified licensed business with the county?
2. How long have they been a photographer and ask about their clients/pedigree?
3. Are they a accredited full-time photographer or weekend "pro"?
4. Their website address "URL" (view the quality - anyone can now hang a "For Hire" sign on the web).
5. Professionalism runs deep. Is their email an aol, yahoo and is their website just a Smugmug, "Free site" or a real paid professional shop front with a lot of attention to detail for the paying customer.
You get what you pay for and hiring a real quality "pro" photographer probably isn't much more at all.

Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?

A. I have 20 years of experience working for some of the largest corporations, magazines, non-profits, design firms and newspapers. The frequency and variety of the work as well as a keen interest in photography has kept me with the leading "true" professional photographers in the DC area.
Although my quality is second to none I am very affordable and can work within your budget and would love the opportunity to send a quote.

Q. What do you like most about your job?

A. ~Variety and the endlessly challenge to provide the best possible creative work, delivered on-time and within budget for each and every client.
~The constant problem solving required for each job regardless how routine a job might seem. There's always something to overcome or solve.
~Technology - wonderful tools and endless learning possibilities.
~ Working with really creative people and helping businesses promote themselves by providing the best possible outward facing product possible.
