"An exceptional photo captures true emotion."
Welcome to my business page on Thumbtack! My name is Kate and I have loved taking pictures ever since I can remember, and am well known with friends and family for this trait.
"Katushka" is a an affectionate way to say Kate in Russian. Katushka Prints Photography specializes in children and family portraits, weddings, senior pictures, engagement pictures, and other special events. I provide on-location photography services to the Maryland, Northern Virginia, DC, and Southern PA areas.
I have over 15 years of experience working in the classroom and with children of all ages. It has always been my dream to have my own photography business and in November 2008, my website launched. My sessions are relaxed and fun and go at your pace. If you are comfortable, then the pictures will reflect that! Mini-sessions and full sessions are available seven days a week.
In addition to portrait sessions, I also sell prints and framed pictures of landscapes, florals, and nature. Greeting cards, sold individually or as box sets, are a popular item with my clients. Themed box sets of lighthouses, flowers, butterflies, travel, and animals are currently available for sale. Please contact me for more details.
You can find me on facebook under "Katushka Prints Photography." This is a great way to keep track of the latest news, specials, and photos.
A. The most common question is definitely what to wear during your Photography Session.
Some people prefer they match, while others just wear similar colors or varying shades of a certain one (example lilacs, lavenders, and deep purples). Others prefer to wear all white tops for example, although I personally tend to think solid colors look especially nice when photographed.
Try to eliminate logos or overly busy patterns that can distract from your child. A cute sundress works. Hats, boots, scarves and the like can add a fun element to the shot, and don't need to be included in every image.
You're welcome to bring a change of outfits.
Complimentary colors work best for family or group shots. Wearing all white can reflect light and is not recommended. That you and your family are dressed comfortably is the most important thing. I once did a session and it took us a long time to overcome the fact that the girl's skirt was extremely itchy.
My personal philosophy is that there is nothing like color to portray a child in a portrait. You may decide to bring a favorite toy or doll, a blanket or special item from home that means something to your child (or to you). If your child is into dress up, that may be something he/she could wear in the end, like a fun tu-tu or something similar.
Just ideas and suggestions, this session is about getting photographs that you will remember and treasure.
