FAQs
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I starting dj'ing back in high school in the early 1980s. By 1983 I was working the college circuit at the clubs by Old Dominion University. By 1985 I had moved to the nightspots in Virginia Beach and Norfolk. Over the next 2 decades I played for nightclubs, private parties and broke into radio in 1989. At the turn of the 21st Century I have concentrated exclusively in performing for private functions of all types. Wedding receptions, class reunions, fundraisers, golf tournaments, dances, BBQ's, Pool Parties, Birthday Parties, Pig Pickin's and more. I have performed for The Shriners, The Knights of Pythias, Fraternal Order of Police, Police Association of Virginia, Norfolk Professional Firefighters, Judy Boone Realty, The Elks Lodge, The Loyal Order of Moose, The Knights of Columbus, the Ocean View Democratic and Social Club and Veterans of Foreign Wars to name a few. I was the DJ/MC for the Ocean View Beach Festival for 7 years and have been the "Official Voice of the Ocean View Beach Music Concerts" in Norfolk in July and August No event is too small or large for The BeachBlaster-Steve Duke!
- What types of customers have you worked with?
Most common jobs I do are wedding receptions. I also do H.S. and college class reunions, adult birthday parties, holiday parties of all kinds, i.e., Christmas, Holiday Corporate parties, Mardi Gras, Valentine's, Halloween and more. I do dances and fundraisers for local fraternal and civic organizations. I can and have performed almost every type of private party imaginable. I want to make your function my next one.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Anybody can play music now a days but to be able to make the music move with the tone of the party is something that takes years to master. A real disc jockey entertainer is just that...an entertainer who really knows how to read the crowd and work the music and their own personality to make the event one that everybody will remember.
