FAQs
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
My love of photography began with my first (digital) camera. Once I was bit by the shutterbug, I sought out peer groups and library books, looking for ways to improve my knowledge of the art. I joined clubs, read books, and now am even in school for photography. I continue to read and learn about photography with every event I do. And I love it. I think we all have talents; some of us find them in our lifetimes and some of us don't. It happens that mine is photography and I'm glad I found it. You will be, too!
- What types of customers have you worked with?
Most commonly, actually, I photograph pets. I love how they embody happiness and unconditional love, and for the joy they bring us. Ironically, marriage is such a time for people! Photographing pets also requires the patience of a saint, so having them as my primary subjects is a tremendous teacher. If you have a pet or are planning for fur-babies to attend your wedding, I am a great match. I have a way with animals. I am also firmly rooted in doing good, so a large part of what my studio does is raise money for animal rescues, with over $12,000 donated to date. Thats not to say, though, that pets are all I am good at photographing! Look at my portfolio and I think you will see that my talent goes far beyond just fur-babies.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
These days, the price of SLR cameras has plummeted. The proliferation of them has spawned a new breed of "backyard photographers." Be wary of "professionals" who charge rock-bottom rates. Photo pros have all-pro gear, including pro lighting, pro training, pro cameras and pro lenses. These all amount to the tools and know-how to get GREAT shots. It costs money for all this pro stuff. That is why a real pro will cost more! With photography as anything else, you get what you pay for! Long after the cake is gone, the car is no longer decorated, and the gifts all given, your PHOTOS will remain. Make the investment in your day and you won't regret that choice.
