Introduction: I have a BFA degree in photography at Rochester Institute of Technology and spent a summer in Paris with the school studying fashion and portraiture photography. Emphasis was placed on mastering techniques using a variety of camera formats and professional studio/location lighting. After graduating with honor awards in 1995, I worked with Hedrick-Blessing in Chicago focusing on interior and exterior architectural photography. With this knowledge and experience I returned to DC and was given the rare opportunity to document renovation work being done on the United States Capital. Later I was employed at the Photographers Gallery in Washington, DC where my event assignments included photographing Democratic/Republican fundraisers, foreign dignitary visits, Presidential events, celebrity-sponsored charity galas, Bar/Bat Mitzvahs and weddings.

Describe the job From the minute I met Patrick I knew he would be the one to shoot my Macarons for my new website. It was a local job for a few days Say what went well Patrick truly loves what he does. He is very patient, very creative, and a perfectionist. Patrick and his assistant exceeded my expectations The quality of their work blew me away.....He doesn't just take photographs, he adds props to make sure the photograph conveys the right message. He even went to buy props (with his own money) to do the shoot. He is extremely reasonable and will work with your budget. He was never late and always showed up 15 minutes early... What would have improved your experience? What went wrong, if anything? How could Patrick Miller do better in the future? I will not change a thing.... Everything was on point.... I consider myself very lucky to have worked with him and would recommend him to anyone.

I visited Maine in 2008 and saw Patrick's work in studio; I was amazed at the clarity and vivid colors of his photographs. He explained in great detail how he was able to capture the images with his medium and large format cameras - I was floored because I assumed he was using a digital camera, not so! We have several of his Maine pictures in our home, as they are a perfect reminder of a great vacation. Several years later I called Patrick to order some prints for my office and contracted with him to photograph our family at a reunion. Not only did he do an EXCELLENT job capturing our brood, he was GREAT to work with - he was extremely patient with our group (even the younger children who can never seem to stop squirming). The end result was a priceless portrait of our family - thank you Patrick! I highly recommend Patrick and his team for any of your photographic needs, he is a dedicated professional and you will be amazed at his results!!!

My company contracted Patrick and his team to work on a month long photo shoot to update the content on our website. Before I delve into the quality of his work, which is second to none, I must talk about his attitude and work ethic. He is a professional in every sense of the word. If his name is going to be attached it, he will ensure that it exceeds expectations. He cares the final product more than anyone else in the industry. His friendly demeanor makes the working relationship amazing. I also have to mention Patricks photo editor Joe, who is an expert in every sense of the word and works more tirelessly to ensure perfection than I thought possible. No matter how much you pay this duo, the final product will be worth more. Onto the specifics of the project, Patrick did macro shots (up-close), establishing shots (distance shots), portraits, and action shots. His work was so impressive that my boss actually hired him to shoot his father-in-laws birthday party. His creative direction and takes on what I asked him to shoot gave an elegance to what was plain pieces of equipment. When you have the skill of Patrick and Joe combined with the top-notch equipment that they use, it creates unrivaled outcomes. While all of this might sound like hyperbole, after working 10 8-hour days with Patrick and countless hours of correspondence over email for what has been one of the largest projects of my life, I can wholeheartedly say that you cannot choose a better photographer.

FAQs

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Yes, Tuesday nights I have a three hour class in advanced editing and keeping up with the continuing changes in the photography market .
How did you get started doing this type of work?
Besides playing third base for the Boston Red Sox there is nothing I would rather do. It is so wonderful to be in love with something and know that it's forever. In high school I won the Virginia best portfolio and then won fourth place in the United States. First second and third place got full scholarships. So I just missed a full scholarship but It ended up being an advantage to attend RIT in upstate New York which is the biggest photo school in the world.
What types of customers have you worked with?
Portraits, events, commercial, architecture and product photography are what I have been doing recently. If you look at my website there are samples of all kinds of photography. I had a studio in Maine for a few years and in Maine you have to be capable of doing a little bit of everything.
