Introduction: I am a pianist with over 9 years of private teaching experience across the DMV area, New York City, and Southern California. I started piano at age 4 at the Levine School of Music with Pamela Sverjensky and Martin Labazevitch. I hold a Bachelor of Music degree from the Manhattan School of Music where I studied piano with Horacio Gutierrez, and chamber music with the Sylvia Rosenberg. I have been awarded the Rosalyn Tureck Prize and featured on Classical WETA and WQXR Radio, and have performed in various concert halls internationally, including the Lincoln Center, the Kennedy Center, and in Suntory Hall in Tokyo, Japan. I have also performed in masterclasses with Barry Douglas, Alexander Korsantia, and Robert McDonald. I also frequently perform new works by composers, most recently Hyung-ki Joo and Jaegone Kim. My varied private teaching experience includes studios, schools, and tutoring students in the Manhattan School of Music preparatory program. I’m comfortable working with students of all ages and skill levels. Beginner piano lessons will focus on basic note-reading, theory, and developing proper technique. While piano lessons will cover some basic music theory, students are encouraged to take supplementary music theory lessons, especially for those interested in taking the AP music theory exam. The first lesson will be an informal meet-and-greet; If the assessment goes well, I will propose a curriculum for you or your child at the end of the session. Students must have access to a keyboard, and are also advised to bring a binder for materials outside the curriculum books and a regular composition notebook. For now, I am ONLY offering in-home lessons for a few students. Makeups may take place online, but I unfortunately will not teach regular online lessons.
