"Belly dance for the woman's soul."

Therapeutic Belly Dance (goddess dance) is for women of all sizes aged 15 and older. Classes are designed to increase personal empowerment, learn to be more in the body, express emotion through dance, create a healthy relationship with the body and other women, and provide an outlet for joy and pain.

The class is broken down into three parts: technique (you can't express well without the proper movement, form, and posture), artistry (giving meaning to the music and movement), and sharing (this is optional).

Taaj is a licensed clinical therapist who will use her background to support the experience; however, this is a therapeutic class, not a substitute for therapy.

Please wear something that is comfortable, easy to move in, and makes you feel pretty and alive. Colorful, noisy, and outrageous clothing is encouraged.

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. Belly dance has no licensing body. Anyone can teach. Be sure that your teacher has the experience and knowledge to guide your progress, keep you from harm, and support your growth. If you are in a class that makes you feel bad (whether physically or emotionally), go somewhere else. (Disclaimer: Always consult your physician before beginning any exercise program.)

Q. What important information should buyers have thought through before seeking you out?

A. While this class is designed to be therapeutic, it is not therapy. If you have an emotional issue that you need help with, seek counseling. This can be a good adjunct for therapy, but it is not a replacement for therapy.
